Now that I’m older, I can really appreciate this version on a whole other level, especially the bond between Tori and the band. It’s brilliant! At this point you can tell they are all in the zone.

The second half of this was all ad-lib. The players on this are ALL top notch musicians too. Jon Evans on bass and Matt Chamberlain on drums are masters in their instruments. Put THREE world class musicians together and THIS is possible. Tori is honestly the best of the best. It's always nice to find others who agree.

Personally, I think she's talking about the song when she sings "Hang ten, I'm gonna go where she goes". She often refers to her songs as "girls" and here when she starts to improv, she saying - let's stay in this pocket and go where the songs wants to take us.

The studio versions are great but Tori live is a true spiritual experience. They songs are rarely ever the same, they take own a life of their own. I've seen her 12 times so far and she never disappoints Boys for Pele is my favorite album

Hang ten is one of the hardest surfing moves (hanging all ten toes over the front edge of the board). As a slang term it means to take it to the extreme. Your interpretation is spot on. Tori is exploring her shadow self through this song. It's the Jungian concept that we all have darkness inside us and therefore the potential to perpetrate evil acts. We must confront and integrate our shadow selves to ensure we do not enact evil.

One of her best songs. It evolved from Under the Pink when performed live. I have had the pleasure of hearing this a number of times in person and have loved it every time. Nice to see you experience it for yourself. We all have that inside us, no one gets along with everyone and sometimes you have to repeat the mantra, but I believe in peace, bitch, I believe in peace.

You know i hate to say it but I can't stand some of these live performances because the studio version is so much better it's like a different song all together.. I think you should really do more studio version songs by her that is were the magic is really captured

That is okay to say, but I do believe that comes down to personal preference. I definitely might visit the studio version as well, but when it comes to Tori i love how she transforms her own songs in live versions.

For me, it depends on the song. I love the live version of this. I can't imagine a live version of Father Lucifer being better than the original.
