Saw Tori twice. I'm a Classic Rock and Heavy Metal guy, but Tori Rocks my ears off. Great reaction, fellow fan.

Tori has gotten me through a lot over the years. I hold her dear to my heart. Glad to see someone doing a reaction to her artistry and appreciating it as much as you do.

Same here...it is almost like she created music for certain people on this planet. Only so many are going to get her vibe. If they remixed her songs for a modern young audience or at least find someone with the same potency and content.

I'll give you another "same here." But I hope her music isn't touched. It's already amazing &I fail to see how it could be improved upon. My kids like it so some young people get it already. Peace to you my fellow ears with feet.

I saw Tori for the first time when I was 17 for her American Doll Posse tour, and again when I was 19. The two best concerts of my entire life.

I’ve seen her live 5 times and, when she’s looking into the crowd, you feel like she’s looking just at you. For such a quiet presentation, she’s so powerful.

The control she has over her voice is incredible. She exists within the song she’s performing. She’s perfect.

Wow, this was amazing... thank you SOOO much for your broadcast and your reception of this (just shouldnae gone done clicked on it in mid of a downtown restaurant - as a Tori fan hailing from way back in the beginning of the 90s, and with this being one of my first of hers played over 'n over again Songs, and what with the relationship between my Dad 'n I always having been so hard, and what with him now being stricken with cancer and into his 70s... and me not having heard this Song in a while... my resolve not to bawl in public crumbled with the first few bars). But... Thank you.✨

I'm sorry to hear about your father. I often use a sort of musical meditation to get me through tough times. It's funny how music can unlocked things in your mind, sometimes even when you're not ready for it. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. Godspeed.

Been listening to/loving Tori for over 20 yrs.& thought your review was right on. If there can be nothing else said of her music, it's that the lyrics were always deeply emotional, extremely clever or both. Ty!

Just extraordinary presence, and really unbelievable performer. I do think that this is how she performs rather than how she is in real life - but of course, I'd feel like a simpleton next to her too. She's clearly a 1 in a million.

Love this song, thanks for the reaction. I heard from the bassist on one of her albums that the CD he got to listen to the album before they went on tour was welded shut. I was like "whoa". But like you said, it makes sense. This song always makes me wants to spend more time with my dad.

Have been with Tori since I first heard Crucify on the radio in 1992 and it stopped me in my tracks. Your comments on being married to her made me literally laugh out loud! You're right - intense doesn't begin to describe her. She is amazing and so is her husband.

I think there are some things Tori does better than possibly anyone else in the way she performs. You mentioning the mini pauses and the anticipation of the next note is a good example of that. Also, I don't know if you are familiar with Joanna Newsom, but if you are not, perhaps you'd really enjoy her music too.

Gear behind her belong to Moody Blues which performed after her. At that time (1991) her first solo album Little Earthquakes wasn't yet released so she wasn't yet widely known.

The lyrics Tori Amos writes run the gamut from poetic (like this song) to the blatant. They all, however, tell her story. Whether facing traumas of her past head on, or meditating on her relationship with her father, or even (like Flying Dutchman, my favorite of hers) encouraging those she cares about, she fearlessly lays her soul out on the page, and builds the music to let it stand, and through it probably knows herself better than the vast majority of the human race knows themselves.

Tori was brutally raped and nearly killed by a friend in 1989. Her pain echoes through her music. Her song "Me and a Gun" is about the experience.

You would be blown away by Joni Mitchell's work. She was the pioneer of laying bare the truth, warts and all in her writing. Check out The Magdalene Laundries by Joni...I think you will see where artists like Tori Amos and Sarah McLaughlin have been drawing inspiration....and of course Kate Bush, the other master😁

Her strength is in her vulnerability. I’m not as much a fan of her lyrics, like Joni Mitchell, but Joni Mitchell has never made me cry like this.

Emotionally resonant art tends to be 'extra' and expressive in a way that elicits an empathetic response. Tori's music, her lyrics, her playing, her singing and her physical performance, including facial expressions and breathing, all do this. Unlike with realistic acting techniques, high drama in musical performance should be accepted as an attribute. Music that doesn't make us feel much is a wasted opportunity.

I'm not noticed if anybody has commented on the fact that her and Trent Reznor of nine inch nails were in deep and when it ended Trent responded an album "pretty hate machine" she with a song "caught a lite sneeze"

Her response to Trent was actually her song "She's Your Cocaine", aimed at the fact that he left Tori to date Courtney Love, the best dig in the song, "you say Prince of Darkness, try Squire of Dimness...", and I'm pretty sure she's talking about them both in Professional Widow.

Trent and Tori's thing clearly happened between Under the Pink and Boys for Pele, Trent worked with her on Past the Mission, and that was long after Pretty Hate Machine. I can't honestly say what Trent's response was, possibly Starfuckers, Incorporated was a response to Professional Widow.
