"Despite the best effort of our politicians on all sides, there's always a risk that the election campaign is a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing."
The Conservatives remain 21 points behind Labour in the polls as they attempt to appeal to voters with "bold new policies," says polling expert John Curtice.

After bumbling Boris and utter chaos under Truss who unnecessarily cost so many of us so much money Sunak has done his best. He should be applauded for the job he’s done to date in arresting the free fall, however how can the general public trust a party who has demonstrated such unbelievable mismanagement influenced by an unruly right wing? Similarly can we trust a labour government but what viable alternatives are there?

It infuriates me to hear YET AGAIN that Scotland is important to Labour getting a majority, this is simply not true, there are more MP's in just the south east of England than there are in the whole of Scotland, in only one election in the last 70 years has Scotland provided Labour with a slim majority, if the whole country voted SNP Labour would STILL get a huge majority in England and Wales based on current polling!
@mdog2501

@kincaidwolf5184
@kincaidwolf5184 3 ай бұрын
You are easily infuriated, lol. In huge areas of England and Wales, the Labour Party comes 3rd. The Lib Dems are going to win huge number of seats. Therefore, it is still possible that Labour will fail to form a majority government. The SNP are incredibly vulnerable and will lose at least 80% of their seats. So yes, Scotland is incredibly important for Labour to have a working majority. Had Labour won a majority of seats in Scotland in 2017, they could have formed a minority government. Every seat matters if you want to avoid a coalition or if you want a working majority. Scotland is critical to the Labour Party in the same way that Northern England and London critical. I.e volume of seats.
@karmaascendant3936
@karmaascendant3936 3 ай бұрын
Scotland is more favourable to Labour than a lot of the areas needed to get the swing towards Labour in England. As in getting a majority of the seats available in Scotland means that Labour only needs a slightly better than Blair swing to win and get a majority. If it wasn’t for reform siphoning off a good 7-11% of potential Tories Scotland would be even more important for labour because this is the first time the Tories have had actually competition. They’d literally need an all timer +15 swing or more in a single election. Scotland simply reduces the threshold and makes a larger majority easier to achieve .
@kincaidwolf5184
@kincaidwolf5184 3 ай бұрын
@@karmaascendant3936 Well said. All it takes is for Labour to lose 5% and the Tories to gain 5% or for the Reform vote to go to the Tories for Labour to struggle to get a working majority. And, in England, Labour are going to be squeezed in pro Brexit and Muslim areas like Rochdale. The Reform Vote will take the white working-class and George Galloways pro- Palestine Party will hover up the Muslim vote.
@WIlfredWibbles

Until the SNP gained serious power, Labour always had many seats in Scotland. Scotland typically votes for progressive parties. The difficulty in the UK is that, up until now, the progressive vote is the largest by far, but it's split whereas the right wing vote is focused on the Tories. This favours the Tories in FPTP. If the Labour Party had the courage to bring in Proportional Representation the UK would typically always have progressive co-alitions.
