My son was combat engineer in Afghanistan. Got blown up, lived. As soon as he got home HE got HIS OWN PSYCHIATRIST and got therapy. He said ,ma I’m doing this before I risk my marriage start drinking etc. I was SO PROUD still he gets help ( pays for it himself). Has a wife 3 kids house ,no addiction. Oh yes, he has PTSD. Hearing loss broken back. But he has so much joy. GET HELP ASAP after any type of PTSD. be your own advocate. God bless our soldiers this Veterans Day and every day. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Returning home and becoming a civilian was and is still agonizing 10 years after I got out. I’ve had trouble with the VA and with getting help so I turned to opioids about 6 years ago. I am now a month clean and getting the help I’ve been fighting to get and have honestly never felt better. To any other vets that are suffering PTSD and physical injuries please know that it’s not hopeless and help can be found, never go down the path I and so many others have gone down just because you feel hopeless because you’re not. We got this because we are life long warriors and will always fight and survive and keep powering on.

I will never understand what it's like to really be in combat, never. That also why I respect it so much. Here in Canada there is a small community for vets in Tiny homes. It's a semi circle with a firepit in the middle, they are all responsible for maintaining it. It lets them still have some brotherhood while they readjust to the real world.

Many of my brothers came back from Viet Nam and weren't thanked for their service. They were spat on and called murders and baby killers. I feel honored to have been one of those that they could talk to and help them bear the weight of what they carried home with them, and I'll take their stories to my grave. Their burden was huge, and they got little if any sympathy, but they deserved so much more. Great reaction, and I DO understand where you're coming from.

Dax makes music men need, and that we as women need to listen to and really hear. We have some people who leave their families for an extended amount of time and risk their lives and ever coming home to loved ones, then say they don't need a thank you. Then we also have other people who struggle to make TikToks to cry over working a "whole 8 hour day" and being called the wrong pronoun, and they want praise for their bravery because think they are saving the world by filming their tears. Our job as parents is to make sure our children know the huge difference between the two.

I have to admit as a 20-year career, disabled USAF officer I watched this with tears in my eyes because even though I was a straight-up true soldier in the warzone in which I fought, I am sad to say that I folded with my family because of my PTSD. My heartfelt thanks to my brother #DAX and #tommcdonald (who is more of an American than one born on our soil) for this gift. Thanks to all my brothers who I fought alongside and those serving today! You said, "It's so hard being a 'normal' person again." I agree with you, but I submit that you will never be "normal" again, because of what you experienced good, bad, horrific, or indifferent. And brother, in reality, there is no moving on, but that is the only way we are going to be able to make it to tomorrow!

The moment when your child comes in to say dinner is ready and your response, is precisely what this song is about too. It is an unscripted moment that fits perfectly with Dax's video. Simple moments, deep feelings, needing to suppress and also express what can't be said with words. Few get it. Fewer know how to respond. But there are always some who do, even if they are not in your close circle... keep hoping. Keep going. You got this. And. yes, respect for your service - thank you.

Same. I appreciate the words from civilians when they thank me for my service and I generally ask them to give that thanks to a gold star family. I've been asked before about combat but I have to change the subject because I don't have the words. I try to explain in the micro down to the fire team up on line it's not about anything other than the trooper on your left and right shoulder. This song hits almost harder than 5FDP Wrong Side of Heaven.

A song for Veterans Day. Thank you for your service. I wanted to watch your reaction as a combat vet as I’m a vet but non combat. 5 years US Navy. I did lose two of my pilots in a loss of an Aircraft that I had just serviced and helped launch. So I did experience some loss of my Brothers in arms. Just non combat for myself as an Aircraft Mechanic. But I very much felt responsible for my role in protecting my people I put in those Planes. I remember those times very fondly. I loved those people! I’ll bet you did too. Happy Veterans Day!

I spent 10 years in the 160th as a DAP crew member-during my first rotation with the REGT (July 2010), within the first 18 hours of being on the ground, we were launched to do pre-assault fires for the ground force-we killed 9 combatants on the ground within 10-15 minutes. The first combatant that we engaged, we engaged with 2.75 mm rockets; I remember hanging off the right side of the aircraft staring at the target. He was in a cutout in a waddy-as we were engaging him I locked eyes with him, a few seconds later he was mist and there was dust everywhere. I’ll never forget that man’s face. I think about him a lot. Was he being extorted or threatened to carry out attacks on NATO and AFG forces? I will never know. This first month we were there (Kandahar), we killed over 40 combatants and I became severely addicted to the mission and being in AFG-after all, I spent a little over 9 years there.

First i want to say thank you to all vets. I always try and make the vets in my family laugh or we go fishing or hunting or target practice ive let them teach all my kids about gun safety etc. i say all of that to say when our vets come back home to civilian life its time for us to step up for them. Without my uncle who has combat ptsd who taught me what no dr or therapist ever could i dont think I would be here today. I would never compare my ptsd to a veterans ptsd before anyone says anything. And i want to acknowledge the vets who came to my state that was hit ny the hurricane because when the semi trucks was trying to bring supplies into the hit areas the truck was being hijacked because so many people had lost everything and was hungry and scared. It was our vets who escorted them into the areas to make sure everyone got what they needed. They rode down the highway on all sides of the semi trucks and when everyone seen them it was a sign of hope i wish i knew what group helped they deserve so much credit they never got.

As a fellow veteran, of 2 wars and 8 years, I absolutely get what he means by "we don't want it, per say" it's not that we don't appreciate the respect, it's because we all feel like we are golden on the outside yet rotten to the core. Regardless of situation, we made/did horrible things. We can't forget or forgive. We just do as a soldier and carry on. Mission first. Now it's family. But do not be mistaken, we. Fucking. Struggle. Thanks for leaving the reason we do what we do in the video. When I saw the head poke in I couldn't help but smile. No matter what we may be going through we still have responsibilities, no matter how big or small. God bless and stay strong.

Thank you to all the veterans and their families who sacrifice so much. I have a great grandfather who served in WW1&2, both grandfathers, my uncle, brother, nephew and now I have a 19 year old niece currently serving. It truly is a calling not just a job nor career. God bless you all!! 🇺🇸✝️❤️🕊️

I have non-combat PTSD, but I have a strong empathy for vets who are combat. I have family that were there., my dad & 3 brothers. Grandfathers in WWI. You never put it entirely away. Best "medicine' I've found is volunteering with the DAV, though it would probably be true with any other service org. I'm in a 30 plus person office and every damned one of us has PTSD in one shape form or another. And we are NEVER so comfortable or at ease than when we are in the office with our brothers and sisters. NOTHING can replace the military community and the fellowship we have for each other. We have each other's backs. Being there is our therapy. And we help other vets get their due in VA compensation. How can it get better than that? My PTSD very low there, and builds when I'm home until I go back again. I guess what I'm saying is I really get the need for our brothers and sisters who wore the uniform. This, like many others said, made me cry. Last note - NEVER Think you don't deserve VA benefits for PTSD. Don't full yourself into thinking you are OK. No one deserves it more than you. And most important, find mental health care. They are often understaffed but you can get it free from the VA, and ask for community care if they can't get you in. There is no shame in seeking care. It will help you find your center and move forward. God speed to you all.

Having familly that served and just being a boy mom, this video was hard to watch. The words tore at my heart. Society has tried to paint being a strong man as toxic. But strong men, whether they served or not, but especially if they do or did, are expected to be the defenders, providers when they return home and act as nothing they experienced affects them in any way. So sad that our military is demonized but called on in times of crisis. Another one that is kinda in the same vain as this (covering the ptsd) is Tom's song Wheels Keep Turning. Its an older song and the song itself isnt necessarily about the military but ptsd in general. But the video was hard to watch, as it definitely portays the horrors of ptsd brought on by military service. I cried my eyes out.

Many hugs, prayers and thanks to you and your brothers and sisters who have fought for our freedoms and safety! Stay strong, you’re a bad ass; but you’re allowed to cry and if you don’t wanna cry, cuss, scream at family or friends…I’m here! I’m a country girl who has mad respect for you and others like you. So please don’t hesitate, I’ll take the heat if you need to dish out some heat! I couldn’t do what you’ve done, but I definitely will let you scream at me and cry, whatever. It’s the very least that I could do! 🙏💜🙏💪

@@TormentedVet_Reactions It Is my pleasure. BUT, know that I’m serious! Give me an email address and I’ll send you my personal number (Not just the work phones where you get voicemail or an employee lol) and don’t you dare hesitate to call at any hour! Need someone to scream at? I won’t take it to heart but I’ll definitely be there. Need someone just on the other end of the line saying nothing, just knowing someone is there…I can do that too. Vets deserve so much; and you have gone above and beyond with your channel helping other vets and even civilians. So really, if ya need me, you can call! 💜🙏💜

I've been boxing on a highly competitive level since I was 10 years old. In my best shape at 24 years old with 10 years jiu-jitsu, I could only drag a 250 lb man 56 feet. Lifetime female athlete, and I say no way.

Brother, I felt everything with you... I had to keep winding back to hear all the words. This pushed me back in time... my Military Time. (6 years AF- SF) I luckily have had more time out and more time to learn how to deal... Been OUT since 8-1-91, Just After Storm (4th Op tour). I hope you have someone to vent to... if not... Brother, reach out. DM for private contact info. 24/7 and belonging to a large brotherhood, you will have ears to listen...

Look one of my good friends is a trans man.. They themselves said it’s not even just about the physical fitness, it’s also about the mental health as well. All the medication they take it puts their body & mind through so much mentally as it is. There is no way that they’re mentally capable to do an important job as a soldier.. Like I said, that is what my best friend and trans-man said themselves.. So they 1000% agree with you.. Also thank you for your service!❤🇺🇸
