This 3D medical animation of torn knee meniscus repair begins with an orientation of the knee joint, the medial and lateral meniscus, and the free-floating cartilage in the joint space. Prior to surgery, the joint is prepared by filling it with fluid. Afterwards and arthroscope and a surgical tool are inserted to visualize and repair the torn meniscal cartilage, respectively.

I had the same operation about 8 years ago. However, I still have a Bakers Cyst that fills up in the area behind my knee. The cyst doesn't protrude but I can't bend down fully with that knee so I'm assuming that there must be excess fluid trapped there. From the little I know, the extra synovial fluid that is created is because of the meniscus tear. I must still have a tear or what is left of my meniscus was too damaged to repair. My only relief is to be active, the more active I am the less irritation I have with the knee. Its never sore as such, just feels uncomfortable and I don't have the same power in that leg as a result. It is also on my dominant side, the side your brain will always tell you to step off on.

Good 3D simulation of partial meniscectomy, thank you for this video... As an orthopaedic surgeon, I always try, when possible, to perform rather a meniscal repair by suture than a partial meniscectomy, in order to provide a better long term prognosis to the patient. Regards.

Hello! I hope you are doing well. I recently got my MRI results, and it mentioned a grade 3 tear at the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. The report also states that the ACL is not adequately seen. There's no joint effusion. I'm quite worried and hesitant about surgery. Can this be fixed through physiotherapy and a knee immobilizer? I really want to explore alternatives to surgery. Your insights would mean a lot to me during this challenging time. Thanks in advance for your help.

If anyone is scared, i have had 2 ACL surgerys and both times required meniscal repairs. The first op, due to severe damage, had to remove 50 percent of it. The 2nd they have stitched back together due to keeping my knee relatively healthy. My advice for anyone is to prehab and lose weight, its what i done for my 2nd op as opposed to the first and jts saved my knee

@@ajeetlokhande1186 nothing to be scared of, if anything the anesthetic is to definitely be enjoyed! As for the recovery afterwards; I couldn't put any weight on my first knee due to them creating a blood clot to full a divot in the end of my leg bone. They took a piece of my hamstring and used thst as my ACL - actual recovery time for that is longer but rehab is so much easier. The 2nd time they used my patellar tendon and could only partially weight bare. The knee is better with the patellar as is recovery but the rehab is harder and scar healing a lot more painful. Please bare in mind these were just my experiences, but please don't feel scared, there is a small relief when you know the surgery's complete and you can begin the actual recovery process. All the best, everything will be okay.

i split my meniscus in half last summer from wrestling and didn’t know it. i thought i just pulled a tendon on the side of my knee so i brushed it off for pretty much the whole school year and after the season when i didn’t even make the varsity lineup for districts i went to the doctor and they said i tore my meniscus. so i got surgery and a few days ago i saw the MRI and my meniscus was in 2 pieces and i looked at the doctor and just asked how i was even able to perform on the level i did without having to sit out. (i went to nationals and trained with olympic members multiple times that summer with it torn 🥲) and he said he didn’t even know. i still have no idea how i was able to do any of that. but after the surgery and i’m almost able to walk it feels a world better now. i never thought my knee could feel this good, it still hurts but i can bend it and stuff now without it feeling like my knees gonna pop.

Hello, here is Korea 2 years ago I had surgery to suture the right meniscus medial root 2 years ago. It ruptured again in the same place on July 30. The suturing operation was successful 2 years ago, but I think the suture without improving the body imbalance led to the overall muscle imbalance. When the stiffness of the hip joint or the stiffness of the right shoulder is relieved, the left and right balance feels like the knee pain is there, but the overall balance feels better. Do I need surgery again? The inner part of the cartilage plate is said to be difficult to regenerate because there are no blood vessels, but I've heard that it can be regenerated with synovial fluid. What do you think? And I wonder if it is right for the overall muscle balance to deteriorate after surgery without correcting the body imbalance.
