Not sure which will be the worst at the end of March 2019, Brexit or Tornado being retired. It has to be Tornado retirement for me. Such a brilliant jet that still after 40+ years looks so brutal and agressive. It has been such a fantastic workhorse and has given such excellent service to this country. Bet the Russians will be glad to see it go as they knew that they had no way of stopping it when it flew so low and so fast. If the F35 is half as good it will have its work cut out.

I used to love watching the Tornados during Desert storm, so low and fast over the desert.

David Tilbury The Tornado is indeed still a wonderful asset to the RAF. I flew the GR4A until 9 years ago and I must say I miss that part of my life.

@@cristinamorenolamin3217 Christine. Wow. What a wonderful experience that must have been. I am extremely proud to have worked on the RB199 engines during my time at Rolls-Royce. I hope that you had not too much problems with them. For such a demanding role and bearing in mind that they were designed in the late 60's and early 70's and with the materials and design tools of that time, the engines were massively challenging. I still understand how every part works. I was extremely fortunate to work very closely with the RAF in my role of supporting the engine in service. Thank you so much for your message and my very best wishes.

Mike Williams It was a dream to fly and the MK103 turbofans caused no problem to myself. There was much power in those babies. Yes it was indeed a pleasure to fly and proud to serve my country.

@@cristinamorenolamin3217 Appreciate your kind response. I also had the pleasure of working on the EJ200 engines in EF Typhoon. Far less complicated than RB199 buy fantastically powerful and of course much more advanced. Now that Typhoon is to take on the ground attack role from the GR4 I was wondering whether you have a view on how well Typhoon will fulfil this very demanding role.

Quick question The Tornadoes always have the black ‘stain’ on the tail fin. Is this due to jetwash or is it camo design? Also (sorry 2 questions) how many F35s are over now? Still 4?

@@majorclanger8997 im 14 don't take my my words as definite however I beleive it is due to the thrust reverser.
