sorry to hear that. If its only been that short amount of time it should be under warranty. But there could be a few reasons. The handle could have been pulled too fast or it could have not been set properly when it was being built. The adjustment for the cable is specific for smooth operation.

I do not know if I showed the part number. It is recommended that you check with your dealer based on your specific model year. There have been several changes to these push mowers over the years.
