I will say -- I AM the audience. I think there is definitely space for this type of music with more emotive/substantial themes. I don't know if Chaz achieved that on this record per se, but I am not mad at it all. Really enjoyed quite a few tracks, if not all the whole album.
@koalatea812620 күн бұрын
same - I am the audience. lifelong Chaz fan and I honestly love the new album, including the cheesy lines like burning thru this bread like a brand new toaster 😂 it’s ok to be tongue in cheek. the creativity is what’s never disappointing. Chaz is a legend and he is prolific

My favorite thing about this album is how he can understand and points out the similarities between all the featured artists. Don Toliver, Kenny Mason, Kevin Abstract, Porches, Glaive, Ben Gibbard all have a subtle through-line, and as a fan of all those artists I'm glad someone else sees it.

Hole Erth felt like the more refined and less edgy version of his album Soul Trash (2019). Hole Erth is good, but Soul Trash feels much more exciting and interesting from front to back. Highly recommend if you like this side of Chaz.

II feel like I am the exact audience for this a zillenial who grew up smack dab in the middle of the 2000s inspiration he takes from but also right after the emo trap genre popped off id that makes sense. I remember when guys would say 'Do it for the gram!' and now I have a feeling many artists are doing this tongue in cheek 'Do it for the rithm' kinda sound that is basically just having fun and accepting what the industry somehow became - homogenized sounds that make hits for the spotify playlist that all sound like each other because you have to feed your family. The most unserious serious time period for music ive ever witnessed, I think we will laugh about this current era if it ever ends and the underground takes back some power.

I tried Baby Daddy and Cdr... I only like that style of vocals if they're more floaty than crispy, and these are 2 crispy. And it reminds me of guitar bends that miss the mark... and then you find out the bends were done w autotune, and it's like, how did you miss the right pitch with autotune? Couldn't you keep nudging til it hit, right? But then I thot, wut if it's a social commentary on Israel blockading juice from Palestine? Maybe we're hearing juice under a couple blankets in a smuggler's tunnel, and then it all made sense. So, I'm going to listen to that Fr John Misty screamo song next, for I have sinned. At least, I'm assuming it's screamo, with that track title. It wud be weird if it was, tho. IDK

I feel like I’m a middle ground fan of toro where I bop a good amount of mainstream music but have also followed him for awhile so maybe this record worked better for me? I don’t listen to a lot of emo rap tbh so this was newer for me and I enjoyed a good amount of it. I like toro lyrically a lot more than juicewrld or Travis Scott, I feel like he connects more with the human experience than the male experience lol. Tbh I was bumbin off-road but maybe that means I need to listen to more emo rap.
