@@house9850 sounds like the AI would technically be the songwriter in your case. it’s normal for artists to release songs that someone else wrote for them. but the writer obv needs to give permission, be compensated and credited. So the real question is, do you need permission to release a song written by AI? And who would actually give you that permission? Would it be the developer of the AI you used? And would you need to credit the AI and/or somehow compensate it (or the developer) for writing the song? Legally speaking, I’m not sure of any laws that answer these questions yet because im pretty sure we’re still in the Wild West of the AI songwriting era. eventually some AI dev will sue an artist for releasing a song written by their AI, and legal confusion will ensue. Until then it’s tricky because if you do the honest thing and credit the AI, maybe the AI dev sees it and sues you for royalties from the song. Whereas If you lie and say you wrote the song yourself, then no one would ever even think to suspect AI was used (even if they did, it would be tough to prove). at the end of the day, if music is just a hobby and you aren’t making money from it, you’ll likely never have to worry about any of this. Safest bet probably is being honest about the AI’s involvement, and just keep the AI program you used to yourself.
@LynnColeMusic3 ай бұрын
@@house9850 Depends how you do it, and where ai lives in your process, what kind of work goes into making the thing. Look, if you've put a week into writing a song and producing it with ai, it's yours. There's no reasonable way to argue that it isn't. There is a lot of craft there... or there can be. I think ai is a terrible time saver, but it's a fantastic way to break out of your comfort zone as an artist and see your work and creative pipeline in new ways. My friends over at Dadabots said that we're in the late 1970s of ai music right now. Sort of like when keyboards just came out, and nobody understood them yet. Only a handful of people doing really interesting or innovative work while everything else was kinda just... sludge? I like that comparison

As a person from the corn-infested hellhole that is Indiana, the flatness depends on how far north or south you are in the state. Farther north (past Bloomington, and especially up toward Indy and beyond) it gets pretty flat. In the southern portions (mostly southern third or so) it is extremely hilly, there's hills on hills and areas with small cliffs and miniature valleys. Nothing really gets to the level of mountains, but it's definitely not flat. Id recommend checking out the New Harmany State Park for a look into what some of the more natural landscape looks like.

You mean how art was created the last 25 years? 90% of all music you hear right now is made by computers. Autotune = AI like literally. The dude under your comment also uses Autotune on most of his songs. Hilarious. As a longtime writer I will tell every Singer from now on that they are no Artists. I don't understand AI music. AI imagery has a certain uncanny, dreamlike look that I guess some people like (I don't but whatever.) AI text can be used for cheating on essays. What is the purpose of AI music? The only thing I can think of is tech bros who have lost all their humanity trying to reverse engineer something that brings people who still have souls joy.

Ever since genres became formulaic, humans were eager to find a recipe, cater to trends, and reach the broadest audience possible. They tried to dumb it down so that little children and drunken people could still follow what’s going on. Well now, there is actually a machine that can do this. I’m not surprised.

It's going to be awful for a while. They can probably easily recreate major hits. And easily write pop song lyrics... But to actually write meaningful songs... No... That's not going to happen for a long time. If you are a musician who plays more than 3 chords, you probably have nothing to worry about.
