fascinating interview. coach Corbu breaking down the weight classes is hilarious they really did not think of the athletes or the sport at all. Horrible qualifying system that robbed us of seeing Rahmat and Rizki and Tian Tao and Dayin battling it out in Paris

I've just finished watching Lucrezia Magistris at the Olympics, and I must say that Sebastiano Corbu wasn't supportive of his lifter. Compare his attitude with that of the Venezuelan team, all of whom were encouraging and supportive. When Coach Corbu saw that Lucrezia wasn't performing at her best, he became progressively angrier and didn't even have the dignity to greet his lifter after she left the platform. He returned to the training hall, and I noticed from Lucrezia's expression how lonely she felt. You can be the best coach in the world, but you can't leave without acknowledging your lifter after a failure. You have to be with them both at their best and when they fall short.

@albutcher9152 Don’t believe me? Watch her second attempt in the clean and jerk at 112kg. You may feel protective of Corbu being criticized, but try to be impartial. I imagine you love the sport as much as I do, so you must agree that the most important aspect is the lifters, not the coaches. I've always rooted for Lucrezia since I first saw her lift. That’s why it broke my heart to see her mistreated as the world-class athlete she is. She deserves a coach who not only supports her but also doesn’t set her up for failure with such high opening weights. What happened with the two Giulias and Lucrezia was no coincidence. Nino was lucky that his annulled lift was overturned, but he’s also a victim of this system of overconfidence. They will end up injured or, worse, discouraged from continuing to lift. That would be a loss for the sport and for us amateur weightlifters who support them.

I think italian team should wake up. The doping thing it’s unrealistic. They can not test 20 althetes every 10 days. It will be too expansive. And also, everyone knows that the big teams are all doped. Ppl just want to see big lifts and olympics knows that. They know everything. So italian team have 2 options: do what every other team does, or just stay mediocre like they are atm. imho they achived great results considering they are not helped by gears like other teams. Just be real, From a italian fan Edit: Also the posterior chain lack. We are in 2024. Fixing the lack of athletes is real. Is what you should do as a coach. Programming is real. If giulia miserendino lack of postirior chain just work on it. It's not that if an athlete doesn't start out perfectly balanced at 8 years old then you can't fix the imbalances when he's older. And it is not true at all that some muscular imbalances if you have them at 20 years old you cannot fix them. It is your job to do it as a coach. If giulia miserendino still doesn't have strength in her glutes, hamstrings or paravertebrals after years of training with you... well that's your failure. I’m gonna say this in italian: avete pochi atleti? Andate nelle scuole a promuovere lo sport scegliendo chi è molto portato geneticamente. Come fanno nel calcio. I vostri atleti stanno facendo un enorme lavoro sui social promuovendo lo sport. Non possono fare tutto da soli.

Like how hard is it to have a lifter open on a snatch that they can definitely make and build from there onwards so they can atleast get a clean and jerk in to put together a total regardless of where they finish😅

All fun and games until they set their athletes up to fail having them open too heavy lol, im sure they’re great coaches in training but their apparent competition strategies over the last year have been rubbish

and how many international medals have you produced as a coach? please
@clintiacuone17033 ай бұрын
@@furli13 what’s that got to do with having a history of opening their athletes way too heavy with reckless abandon?! Massida was in the box seat to medal as a 61, now either he was carrying an injury, his coaches had way too much confidence in what he was capable of that particular day or like my initial point stated his coaches just flat out made an irresponsible choice in what to open him on in the snatch. It’s not like he has a bad clean and jerk either compared to his peers so he could’ve made up the difference
