Italians from Montreal are not French at all. The vast majority of Montreal Italians main language is English as we went to English schools where 95% of students are Italian, and we grew up in our neighborhood’s that are majority Italian. We are the largest English speaking community in Quebec and never wanted to separate from Canada(we are nothing like the French Canadians, and have always had tension with them). We have retained the Italian culture way more than Toronto Italian or NY Italians, majority of us are 100% Italian and are fluent in Italian as our grandparents and some of our parents only spoke Italian. Some of us speak our Italian dialects better than the people from our town speak them today as the dialects in Italy are dying out. Us Italians should be United - NYC, Nj, Philly, RI, Boston, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto, Australia and wherever else our core is Italian our ancestors are Italian we are all proud to be Italian - we shouldn’t talk shit about each other, we should support each other as we our all brothers and sisters

Montreal has the best Italian community. The little Italy there is legit and they hold true to their culture and language. More than anywhere else in North America. It’s so tied to Italy that they even have a serious problem with the Costa Nostra in the city. Which is terrible but true. I’m from Vancouver but I can at least speak facts on Montreal and give their Italians credit.

When I was younger my dad used to tell me that the reason we chose Canada is because, in Canada we are italian-canadians but in the usa we are american-italians. He felt we had a much better chance of holding on to our Italian heritage in Canada... and by far and large that rings true. Most americans are spread out which makes it harder for ethnic communities to congregate and make the sort of Ethnic neighborhoods that paint the greater Toronto area.... the boys at growing up Italian will lose their minds once they see how many Italians live in Vaughan 😂. Big thanks to our NY fratellos for this podcast!!

As an Italian Canadian from Toronto is that most Italian Americans, make a mockery of the Italian language ! Like how you pronounce mozzarella, or provolone and capocollo, why dont you say it as it reads !!!!! Finnish the word please. And as for sauce, how on earth can it be called gravy ???? Please respect our heritage.

What about the Italians in Boston. We have The North End, which is what we call Little Italy, and then there's East Boton a.k.a. Eastie, which used to be predominately Italians, but now it is pretty much a mixed neighborhood. There's South Boston a.k.a. Southie, which is mostly Irish with small sections of Italians, which is where I am from. The North End is still a huge Italian neighborhood that you guys should visit, that is where all the best Italian restaurants are, and all the old school Italians hanging out on the block, watching everyone and everything that is going on. Grazie amici.

Love the pod Sabino! Love what you and Rocco have built. But I have to say, you insulted us Montreal Italians a little bit. We're the OG and most Toronto Italians will admit it. Montreal Italians don't need to try too hard like these clowns to sound cool (da f$%k is a spro?). Being Italian is by definition cool. We got a little rivalry goin on with our cuginos down the 401. I think the right thing to do is to invite some Montreal Italians to make things right. 😉🤌
