@@hanssteiner4315 yes i have, the full type ix series. But it is rly hard for me to watch someone is using map markers to plot torpedo solutions. The awesome part on this series is the historical use of the limitations the uboat commanders rly had.

Poor Ju-87 probably flew for at least an hour in staggering boredom to bail out a Type II and he only gets angry glares and told that he's late, lol. I feel his pain having flown many missions in IL-2 Sturmovik where the ingress has been 40 minutes÷, I bungle my divebomb and have to limp home in shame on minimal fuel. Super fun aircraft tho, really love it. Extremely well put together and reliable machine. And I admit to turning off duds in my game, i want to be rewarded if I hit, hehe. Loving the series.

Just found your channel and subbed. So far some of the best (if not the best) SH series I've seen yet. I really appreciate the roleplay and characterization of the captain as a sailor first and foremost. For the vast majority of people, killing isn't an enjoyable task and I like that you make a point to illustrate that leaving men in the water is something that is very difficult to do and against the instincts of any sailor, even in war.

@@Tonci87 I have the steam version of that game, but I sadly don’t know or have the ability to install the mods, I’ve tried it countless amount of times but have failed each time, I’d love it if you could do a mod install video with both sh5 and sh3, there are other videos of it online but none of it in English that I know of sadly :(

That was a tough break using so many precious torpedos on such a small ship. Using the type 2 is hard you really have to pick your battles. The rough sea state makes it super difficult with that tin can but it makes it more fun. That chart you were using is to figure out the depth? I could never quite understand that chart, is it based off of the sea state?

Wind speed. The left part is what is the safe depth for given wind speed. You can press Ctrl-W to get the wind speed even underwater. At 15 meters safe depth is 6 meters. There are two depths, tat you must be aware of. At 0.2 the wind speed or above fail is 98%. At 0.4 the wind speed fail depends on the date. it is ~15% before May 1940, then it is lower and then it drops to 2-3% sometime in 1942. Between the two depths fail % changes linearly. All of the above is for h.sie hardcoded fixes. You can read the exact values in the manual for that mod. The right half of the table is flavor.

You can basically read of the somewhat safe minimum torpedo depth for any given windspeed. E.G. 4,8m at 12m/s

If i had money on me right now i'd pay to watch this on netflix lol, I would not want to be in your shoes, when you get back to base and have to explain yourself to your commanders arrhahaha, I'd argue you found a close to home unarmed target and decided to conduct weapon testing drills to provide information for evaluation. I've not played silent hunter in years but since the weather was kind of rough but not awful maybe a torp depth of 2.4m-3.0m you might get way with it, i think the height of your average human being is 1.7m, so as long as its maybe half meter deeper. You Sir would be far better at those decisions than me.....I totally agree with alot people in comments that you showing this game in all of its glory with history and story, using some really great tools and different techniques to get speed and just watching you play, I can already spot some mistakes i might of been making when using the TDC (Torp data computer) I swear my dad and I have a copy of silent hunter on CD disk somewhere...

By the way, I was wondering how you were adjusting your course - are you using keyboard shortcuts ? I am trying to get used to the SH3/ Onealex controls from the SH5 WOS and maybe you could do a short overview of how you are targeting at some point? Just a small request, these videos are really great and I love your narrative you are adding.

It depends on what I want to achieve. If I have a specific course in mind, then I will set it on the big compass. If I just want to go "That way", then I´ll use the command "set heading to view"

I love the writing in these intros. A lot of series keep rp stuff a bit too dry for my taste. I like how you flesh out the CO as a character with his own conflict and sense of honour.

You should always remember to check wind speed. Ctrl-W (whether check) works underwater as well to my surprise. This particular ship has a draft of 7, so not as shallow for a small ship. You probably know about it, but the Klarung table (left of Tht) shows the correction needed if you are measuring speed at an angle. At 45 degrees you need to add or substract your own speed from the calculation. At other degrees the table shows the values for certain speeds. You need to add if you are closing to the target or substract if you are moving away. I found it useful to measure target speed at 45 degrees, it leaves enough time to set up the shot.

32:20 actually I was told the contact report is only working for convey, not a single ship. Can you verify?

That is a difficult question to answer. There will only be a radio report that you can read in the messages if you do this with a convoy, but I did have Luftwaffe bombers attack single targets after I called them in. I think the Wolfpack feature will only work with convoys, but you can still alert friendly units to the presence of single enemy ships.

No, the weather will change after a few days, but you can be inside a storm, or a calm for a week or so.

I know im late to this series, but if Poland had already surrendered to Germany, would there merchant ships still have been a target for the Germans??

Just because the country surrendered, doesn´t mean that the ships crew accepts this surrender. A lot of Polish, Danish, Dutch, Belgian, Greek French ships escaped to English ports and served their governments in exile.

All Polish surrenders in 1939 were by surrounded Polish units who were unable to resist further due to hopeless military position, shortage of supplies, or surrendered to save civilian lives. So the Polish government never ordered any of its forces to cease resistance, including its naval and merchant ships.
