Torqeedo Cruise 4.0 on Sea Eagle Fish Skiff 16

The 8 HP Torqeedo Cruise 4.0 was able to push the inflatable Sea Eagle Fish Skiff 16 to a top speed of 10.2 mph. This video shows the rigging, testing and fishing of this set up, which is ideal for electric only waters, or anywhere you need to go super shallow. One of the challenges of rigging an inflatable is how you mount common fishing accessories like a depth finder, transducer, multiple rod holders and other track mounted accessories. Jeff shows how to install YakAttack accessories on inflatables using a Switchpad. Jeff is joined by Maryland Department of Natural Resources biologist Mike Naylor on an eastern shore tributary of the Chesapeake to target snakehead and largemouth. Mike provides a tutorial on how to identify several common species of subaquatic vegetation, and discusses their important role in these fisheries.

This is a nice setup, but for my needs I prefer my Sea Eagle Paddleski & Torqeedo 1003s motor. My setup offers the ability to paddle it as a kayak but still offers great stability, a fair amount of room, and the ability to handle a decent motor. And if the battery dies suddenly, I'm not stuck. Still, the Fish Skiff 16 does go faster and offers more room. But you can't paddle it like a kayak, which is something a lot of us really enjoy. The Skiff hull is 99 lbs deflated to carry vs 42. The Torqeedo Cruise 4 is a faster motor, and this skiff can handle even stronger motors. But all things considered, my setup is plenty fast enough for my needs, can paddle well, sail and more. And fit in my car's trunk. Still offers a fair amount of room too, but less than this one. Just sayin...

I have just started following your video content;which I congratulate you on. I am a resident in the uk and looking to purchase either the sea eagle fish skiff 16 or osprey 1436. I am edging toward sea eagle they got good deals going on at the moment and ship to the UK. Should I consider anything else in your opinion

If you want to be able to take another person, you certainly want the Fish Skiff. The Osprey is almost ready for release, but I am sure that you can get a Fish Skiff right away.

Wondering have you used your Skiff in Saltwater watching for stuff like Oyster beds? Any issues with that ? Right now I have a inflatable kayak top of the line . Aquaglide. But folks are saying that it would do well . I'm not intentionally looking for sharp stuff lol. Your thoughts please?

I have a FSK16 as well, and the recommendation was that saltwater is fine, but oyster beds can tear the boat so I plan to keep my boat on small lakes.

The possibility of slicing open the boat with something sharp like an oyster bed is real. That being said, I have run over some jagged river rock with no issue. Having three chambers is some insurance against such a mishap. If you lose the bottom chamber, the other ones will keep you afloat long enough to get back. I also carry a product called “Tear-Aid”, which is a temporary fix to get it sealed enough to get air back into the inflatable to get you somewhere that you can put a more permanent patch on it. I recently used Tear-Aid on a Star Rival Fish inflatable kayak that took a hit from the Torqeedo Ultralight 1103 propeller on a different kayak at full speed. I was back up and running in about 15 minutes.

Just got one of these boats, and I love it. Except for the fact that my trolling motor can only get up to 3.5mph. Do you know if it's easy to hook up your own battery to one of these Torqeedo's? I saw a cruise 4.0 on sale for under $1k without the $5k battery.

Get the Cruise motor after the seller has proved that it is operational. Get it serviced - new o ring gaskets and seals. Then find the battery. You can use many different batteries, not just the Torqeedo one.

Would the fish skiff be okay for 2 adults and 2x year old toddlers? I know it’s max 3 adults, but that would seem crowded.

I have those two battery boxes in there that take up a lot of room. If you go with the Torqeedo Travel 1103, it frees up a ton of room. Check out the different seating packages they have at SeaEagle.

It’s a stick steer, a cable in a sleeve that pushes the motor left and right.

I have been looking at getting the Torqeedo Cruise 2.0, but right now I use a transom trolling motor to move my boat around. On small bodies of water (less than 500 acres), I get around just fine as long as the weather isn't too bad. At the end of the month, my bow mount trolling motor will arrive. It's a GPS one so it'll give me access to anchor lock and really dig into the fishing spots I find.
