Torquay Boat Fire - 85ft Princess Superyacht Destroyed | Evocean Sailing

Terrible scenes in Torquay yesterday (28th May 2022) when a motoryacht caught fire in the MDL Marina.
The 85ft Princess Yacht was totally destroyed, with the cause currently unknown.
The yacht caught fire just before midday, eventually coming off of its mooring and drifting over towards the pier before sinking just after 3pm.
Thankfully no one was injured and fortunately the wind blew the flames away from other vessels.
Our thoughts go out to the owners, a very sad thing to see.

It's not so much the size of it that classifies it as a super yacht. It's the amenities. I've seen many 85's that fit the bill.

Actually not true at all. Anything 40' to about 80" is classified as a superyacht. Anything larger is called a megayacht.

Hi. A boat that is 24 meter or more is a super yacht 85*0.3=25.5 so a super yacht. So caballero entendido. Una embarcación de eslora de 24 metros o más es una súper yate. Un saludo.
