Hey man I got a 2007 Scion tC and when I shift it to 5th gear it pops back up why is this is this the solution

I would check to make sure nothing is in the way of the shift linkage. Pop the center console off and look at the shifter assembly. Then check on top of the transmission as well. Have someone sit in the car and shift and see if you notice any issues. You may need to remove the intake to get a better view. I doubt the bushings would be causing your issue unless they are super worn out or damaged and you're seeing them really deform when shifting. If everything looks good and unobstructed, but it's still giving you issues, it might be time to bring the car to a tranmission shop to have a look.

It may help if your bushings are worn out. Can you descibe how it feels loose?

I would say yes, it will make shifting more crisp. More 'notchy' shifts for sure.

I actually did not see the replies until just now. I replaced my bushing on the shifter cables and they made my shifter super tight. I need a new clutch at this point.. sadly

No, I don't know the part number for the shifter bushing, but it's going to be the same part for 1st and 2nd gen Scion tCs and I believe 1994+ Camrys if that helps.

Sadly, they do not sell just the rubber cable shifter bushings. You would have to purchase the entire assembly just to get the bushings.

I had a hard enough time trying to track down the part at the dealership and they never seemed to have it in stock, but you can check Harbor Freight because they have some generic ones. I would love to see how the TWM combined with the TRD shifter felt like, but I can't justify the cost of buying one right now.
