Torrential Rain Leads To Major Flooding, At Least 1 Death, Rescues In Northeast

Heavy rain spawned extreme flooding in New York's Hudson Valley north of New York City that killed at least one person, swamped roadways and forced road closures Sunday night. Much of the rest of the Northeast U.S. also got hit with downpours.

100-110 is objectively hot though, no matter if you're used to it or not. Fact of the matter still is that the average daily temperature during the summer is steadily increasing year to year (some down years of course but the trend is an increase). 110 might be bearable, but 115+ in a decade or whatever starts to suck no matter who you are.

Ash/wildfires aren't going to make extreme weather more likely. Wildfires are more likely as a result of climate change since forests will be drier and more likely to burn/less likely to be able to easily extinguish as a result of climate change. The flooding has no relationship to the ash or fires. Based on the climate change models, certain areas of the country/world will be more susceptible to flooding, but I don't think the Northeast is one of those regions - the Southeast is another story however...
