Yeah, actually TtC and Conv are two separate torts under the common law. One way to think of Trespass to Chattels is that you don't have to expend the property such as when someone who uses the company email beyond the scope of their permission. Since the email is not real estate, and in this case no particular value has been assigned to the use of the email, (assuming didn't tie down the server or interfere with bus. ops. for sake of argument) then no conversion has taken place. If some other means under 222A had taken place, the Plaintiff could sue for both conversion on the damages and TtC on the nominal. One must remember that originally TtC and TtL were designed to enforce property rights. The reason I'm here is I'm wondering if anyone can think of any other TtC that does fall into Conversion as well.
