I am not a Kia / Hyundai fan to be honest - but their efforts with the N line are pretty awesome. The Ionic 5N is IMO the only true "enthusiast" EV made to date - so seeing a "prototype" factory test rally car from an EV6 only shows that Hyundai / Kia is really trying to make EVs great for the enthusiast. Super neat-o.

For anyone wondering why KIA is testing an EV rally car. Google the new WRC regulations. Seems like we might be getting a Group B type of rally scene, just not at dangerous, in the near future. More manufacturers are gonna join in on the fun. I’m excited to see what’s coming next!!!

Group BATTERY makes soo much sense. Just as crazy potent powerful as the legendary Group B. If they realy want to go wild in rallying, allow 4x Motor Torque Vectoring. Then honestly don't allow spectators to be on the edge of the track. Spectators won't be able to react fast enough.

yep, its bouncing all the time and making the rear bottom out all the time... probably needs stiffer springs, maybe they didnt account for the momentum of the car on jumps since its so heavy

own one, from my experience it's very easy to throw it out of alignment if your not careful at the suspensions maximums. jumps are fine if you go very small. otherwise 2-inch lift and stiffer springs in my opinion.

At the start I was like meh, actually starting to get mad that they didn’t put a handbrake in a rally car, let alone havnt coded the ability to left foot brake… But more I watched it and watched Adam learn how the car needs to be driven really made me respect Adam and his skills. Kia should go for a season and get Adam in the car, think his suspension set up experience along with his feeling for weight transfer would help them develop the car with some proper suspension that’s clearly needed for such a heavy car!

Many high end ones do. But mid range EVs like these generally only have 2 motors, so no torque vector except by brakes.

@Innovative_Mic i don't think there's an ev with torque vector that even has a hand brake. I'm sure that is already possible. But you don't need torque vector to do that anyway. Just lock the rear motor.

This was the tech that had me gassed up (pun intended) the most for EV's since the NSX used it back in 2016, but almost 10-years later almost nobody is using it, and my excitement for EV's is pretty much gone by now. Maybe/hopefully by 2034 "Torque Vectoring just kicked in yo" will be the new meme, at least 😅

@@chaser5947 you can pretty easily find the times online. It didn't place well at all. Second to last I think if I remember correctly. This was the "Do it For Dale" Rally Sprint in mid-December 24. I was at this event and it looked very slow. I couldn't tell if it was driver mod or the actual car. I've taken EVs to rallycross before and they are *quick* -- not sure what the issue was with the EV6.

What an INCREDIBLE opportunity! I would have loved to be the first one to bring an EV to American rally, but I'm also glad that there are others who are paving the way to make my job easier years down the road. Would have loved if they had just removed all the sound deadening on the EV motor or even added a Hyundai Ioniq 5N style exhaust, because that siren is annoying as heck.

Hyundai RN25 prototype has an electronic / virtual big stick hand brake. It uses the rear electric motors to lock up the wheels. Hopefully later development of EV6 Rally cars will have that tech.
