Lon McEachren and Norman Chad’s amazing commentary and hilarious banter is what originally got me interested in poker, and I imagine this was the case for millions of others who saw the main event on ESPN back in the day. They both have done so much to grow the game, and I believe they deserve a place in the poker hall of fame.

Norm and Lon!!! - When you look back at some of the biggest, most historical and important moments throught the years. You can all but guarantee that their voices, humour and personalities are peppered throughout most of them. They were, and in some ways, still are THE soundtrack to poker in all its forms! Much-needed respect to be paid to the pair!!!! 🙌

Norman and Lom. I Have been watching them commentate on the WSOP for years. The way that they could explain the actions of the players as well as getting into their thought process made it simple for those of us who knew nothing of the games at the time to follow and understand. The comedic aspect of Norman at times kept the people who would drift at times engaged. In this way, they have reached so many people and brought them into the game, whether as just fans or new players. This is why I think they deserve to be in the Hall of Fame and quite a long time coming too.
@griffeyjeter2425 ай бұрын
Lon McEachren & Norman Chad should be the nomination for the Hall of Fame. They were the original commentators for all WSOP coverage on ESPN and literally helped bring the game to the mass audience it now has. They explained the game, the backgrounds of each of the players (including "nicknames" that may never be known such as "Kid Poker"), and helped bring the game from the back rooms into main stream. Neither have been recognized for their role in the "Poker Boom" but they are absolutely apart of that. Their dynamic with each other on the commentary brought a different perspective on the game as we watched and learned. These two should be recognized for their amazing contribution to WSOP that we all now know.

@@manwithoutparachute4207 I understand this argument. I mean the baseball HOF is littered with early picks who may have been good for their time but lack what is considered Hall worthy stats now. Regarding the Hall of Fame,, Although many on this list are deserving, for me it should be Lon & Norman.. They have been on the scene together since 2002 when Moneymaker won the main event.. I can honestly say, had it not been for Lon's colorful insight and Norman's comedic relief *(Especially, when he brings up his "Previous Life" and talks about his ex wife(s)) I'm not sure poker would be where it is today.. they kept me watching even when the game got boring.. Fast forward 22 years later, and I cannot imagine WSOP without them calling the game.. Nostalgic, sure.. but great insight and knowledge of the game, coupled with Lon's soothing voice and Norman's comic relief,, These guys have mastered their craft and put the WSOP on the map and are well deserving of HOF recognition..

Josh Arieh, Easy pick. POY and Top 3 finish in Main Event and Top 2 Finish in the Poker Players Championship. 1) Josh Arieh: Big Name, Casual Fans would recognize him. He is one of three people to have finished 3rd or better in the Main event and 2nd or better in The Poker Players Championship. (The other two are Phil Hellmuth and Scotty Nguyen) WSOP: 2021 Player of the Year, Best Main Event Finish: 3th 2004, 6 Bracelets, and WSOP Cashes 73. This guy has showed it over the years combined with a lot of recent success. His name is in the HOF group and has been for years. 2) Jeremy Ausmus: Big Name, Watcher of the vlog would know his name. He has had a lot of success since 2021 winning 5 bracelets during that time. Best Main Event Finish: 5th 2012, 110 WSOP Cashes. He is a strong candidate but not the best. 3) Mike Matusow: Very recognizable name. non poker fans would know him from ESPN videos. Won 4 Bracelets spaced over 14 years.. 4 different games.. I would have guessed he was in the HOF. Best Main Event Finish: 6th 2001, WSOP Cashes: 43 4) Bill Smith: Died in 1996 before the poker boom. Only Bracelet is a Main event winner in 1985. Often Played Drunk. Tight sober player but very excellent drunk player. 5) Lon McEachern & Norman Chad: Very recognizable name. Deserve honors but not before bracelet winners. Should be in the HOF by how connected they were to the Poker boom. 6) Kathy Liebert: She has has more success at the WPT than the WSOP. Current member of the Woman’s HOF. Best Main Event Finish: 17th (twice 1998 and 2000), 1 Bracelet, WSOP Cashes: 84 7) Ted Forrest: Not as much recent success, Three wins in 1993, 2 in 2004 and one in 2014… largest event prize at the WSOP was $300,300. Best Main Event Finish: 408th 2006, 6 Bracelets, WSOP Cashes 31. 8) Matt Savage: Tournament Director… Poker Room Manager’s HOF member Not someone a casual fan would know about. 9) Isai Scheinberg: Poker Stars founder indicted on five criminal charges relate to Poker Stars.. Sold Stake in Poker stars for $4.9 Billion. Not a public figure and I would argue he didn’t expand the game in a positive way. I wouldn’t consider him at all.
