How can you not love ZZ Top. Who turned me on to them well before Eliminator was release? Well it was Jimmy Lea of Slade who wrote about them in the Slade fanzine. So I bought Tejas on spec, on vinyl and never looked back. Dived in to the back catalogue in the early 80's all on vinyl and then along comes Eliminator and since then ZZ Top have had ongoing success. Also got that and various singles on vinyl and it all still plays really well as a lot was put on tape for convenience - so not badly worn out. Elwood fits in with the silliness of the band but also the serious tight musicianship which is a fantastic combination for any group to have. Superb.

Apparently, no one in my family has ever seen ZZ Top live. They've had the privilege to meet all sorts of people and watch them perform live. I will say, going to their show at the Louisville Palace has opened up my musical tastes to all genres they performed! I only knew 3 of the mainstream songs. I knew Dusty did his last show at Iroquois, and Elwood has a band based in Lexington... But dang, Elwood does a great job! Can't replace Dusty on vocals, or bass (don't get me wrong, Elwood does it right, but Dusty did it his way) but he keeps the beat down with Frank Beard! I sadly never saw Dusty, but at least I saw the remaining half.

in 1975 I migrated to Fort Worth (Euless-Bedford-Hurst). There everyday going to work I'd hear Tush by ZZ Top. My American ex-Vietnam vet name Bill Dorsey (RIP) told me the band is ZZ Top. I did speak English well, but I love the driving shuffle rhythm so much. Later on I moved to Houston and learn they are from Houston too, and let me tell you "How can you not love them?' with song like La Grande kick arse rock and roll. Later when I drove pass a ton outside west Houston I see a small town with same name of the song, I wonder if that's how they got the song name from. I once asked Bill, who was an handsome good man, what Tush means, he told me it's a song women behinds, I sat there thinking "why wrote about about women a$$?" Then I grew up to learn that life with tush or tushes is worthless and bored LOL

I was there. One of the best shows I've ever been to, and I've been to over 100 in my xx years. :-) I don't know who mixes their CDs/Albums but they loose about 50% of the performance compared to live. Billy is probably the biggest walking guitar legend around now. I like Clapton but come on lets be real.. in the 70s Billy was untouchable in terms of blues rock. His tasteful and explosive licks were absolute perfect. Every single album from 1970-1986 is absolute pure gold!! The way Billy would play from major to minor with arpeggios thrown in there when needed.. its the absolute epitome of Blues Rock guitarists. Seriously go listen to songs like Arrested For Driving While Blind and then try to play it an sing it... yea.. this dude is straight legend.. RIP Dusty ✌️❤️🤘

Gotta say, miss the hell out of Dusty, but Elwood is such a good player and presence. RIP Dusty. Long live ZZ TOP!

The Band sounds great & Elwood fits in perfectly. I've seen them nine times & from watching this will see them again when their in town.

Elwood is filling those shoes mighty fine. He's a great fit with the band and I love watching them just playing some amazing music and having fun together. Like the slightly botched ending on viva las vegas where they got slightly out of sync and just looked at each other, sort of saved it and just laughed it off together.

Not as raw and gritty as back in the day but it's aged as a fine wine into a high class maturity. Takes us down deep, thanks for being a legend ZZ. 💙

picking up Elwood to carry on Dusty's tradition was the absolutely best choice you guys could have made IMHO.
