You have to understand guys like these. They played night after night, years go by, the same songs over and over again. Occasionally getting asked to play with others and maybe playing something different but it's like listening to the same song for days on end and making it sound better each time. For guys to even stay together like this is awesome. Through all the drugs, alcohol and other temptations during their life and to still step out on stage, give an hour and a half concert and act like they are playing it for you for the first time. WOW !!! Sing, even if you can't, for an hour, some what loud and see what your voice is like. Sit down on a chair, pat your foot to the beat and see how long it takes to get tired. What they do is still something of an art.

I am one of the fortunate who got to see them 5 times so far beginning with the “Expect No Quarter” tour in Salt Lake, 2/8/80. I thought it was called the “Cheap Sunglasses” tour but after looking at my ticket stub it says otherwise. The last time was after Dusty passed and Elwood was on bass. The first I recall attaching my brain to their music was when “Tres Hombres” came out. Seems like around 1974. I still listen to ZZ a lot…..as their music will never die! I hope I get another opportunity to see them. Rest in peace Dusty.

Over the years ZZ Top has proven itself to be one of the greatest, longest lasting American rock bands of all time. There are few bands with just 3 members who can deliver as much sound as ZZ Top. I've seen this 'little ol band from Texas' live in 1976, 1999, and 2004. (if you like your rock and roll loud, this is the band to see) Even with the passing of time, ZZ Top plays with the same drive and energy that took em to the top in 73.

Wow! Two spectacular trios, originating in the 70’s, raging through the 80’s and beyond, each lost a member in just over 18 months time. I grew up listening to, and following these two power trios; where does the time go? Not to mention the longevity of both bands, ZZ Top and Rush, and their members sticking together so cohesively. Quoth the Bard; “...’tis a consummation devoutly to be wished!” R.I.P. Dusty (7/27/2021) and Neil (1/7/2020)... P.S.-Also, not to mention, Dusty was about 64 in this vid, so BIlly and Frank are around there as well. Some people are born to be musicians; some are born to be entertainers; some are born to be unique, unforgettable, and top-of-the-line. Such a group is ZZ Top. They took what they were given and used it all. What a group! Billy's solo on "La Grange" tops just about every hard rock solo, except perhaps Eric's in "Crossroads." He throws in the kitchen sink, plus a few new twists, to me anyway. I'm still trying to perfect it.

He's been there since Day #1 too so...one has to imagine, what good is a sports car with all that shiny paint, hot wheels, leather interior, chrome and polish...without an engine worthy enough to pull the load? That's Frank - doing it the only way he knows and only the way FRANK can! Billy? The drive train (transmission, driveshaft, differential, universal)...and Dusty? 😢this incredible music from these GOD fearing angels touch my heart and body in ways I can’t imagine. What gifted artists they are and the message is clearly from a realm of spiritual experience that reaches beyond their own imagination.
