If we are on the topic of abuse. Mal being triggered when Mike is being traumatically injured, hit, most likely both at the same time is also a red flag. Implies something really dark. Someone else pointed out that one of his personalities being triggered by having his shirt off is also a REALLY big red flag.
@crisdelgadillo650213 күн бұрын
I posted this 8 months ago but seeing your post made me want to share it my theory for why he has each personality It's odd that one of his triggers is that he takes off his shirt and the fact that his third personality is a female that's a gymnast, a profession known for flexibility adds to the creep factor. My theory is that Mike experienced sexual abuse probably from his grandfather considering how Chester is his second personality. Chester is a representation of anger, anger from who? His grandfather. His first defense against his abuser was to mimic them and be angry back at them. The second personality Svetlana is caused by the fact that he was most likely raped like a woman, and a loss of a sense of manhood, and the trigger being him needing to be "athletic". Vito a result of one of the side effects of sexual abuse which is hyper-sexuality, represented by his constant flirting and is triggered by taking off his shirt. The reason Svetlana would probably show when he's with grandfather instead of Vito would be because while he'd have to take off his shirt, he'd be in a state of submission while Vito enjoys conflict. The next personality is MANitoba Smith who like @TheTheorizer said is a combination of Indiana Jones and Steve Irwin and like he said are probably people who'm he idolized. The reason he's MANitoba is because it's the coolest and manliest name. Manitoba Smith is the person Mike wants to be he's the ideal version of himself in Mike's mind. He's sexist implying that females are easily frightened which is something something he'll never be. Manitoba's sexism is a representation of Mike's hate of being raped, a hate of being treated as a woman, and his fear of his grandfather. He never wants to be treated like that again hence why he distances himself from what he felt when his grandfather raped him. He's MANitoba; he's Mike's ideal self. A manly, intelligent, ladies man(womanizer), who's confident to the point of being downright cocky; everything Mike doesn't see in himself. Then there is Mal who's awakened when it's a Blue moon in full or when Mike's taken a hit to the head. I believe those triggers have to do with the reason that Mal went to juvie. Mike was probably being beaten on a night of a Blue moon in full by his grandfather who took it further than he had before. Mal is his release. The first thing Mal probably saw was the moon hence it being one of his triggers. I believe Mal overpowered and killed his grandfather, which is why he doesn't care if others die. Mal is the release of the constraints Mike felt. Mal can do as he pleases and won't let anyone including the other personalities get in the way. It's why he doesn't care about anyone, but himself. Mal was sent to juvie where he was able to thrive on the fear and chaos he caused. Mal made sure nobody would cross him. In his final conversation with Mike, he tells mike "No one will ever cross him with him in charge." To which Mike says that he doesn't need him ANYMORE. Anymore implying that he needed him. Mal was needed because Mike's grandfather broke him. Mal was what came from a need for self-preservation. Mal is Mike's counterpart, his opposite. While Mike was dumb, weak, kind and a push-over, Mal was intelligent, strong, mean and nobody could control him. Mal rejects what Mike represents meanwhile the other personalities were Mike's friends and were there to defend Mike and help him cope. That's why Mal controlled them they're a side effect of how Mike's mind was weak and submissive. Mal broke free hence why he was unrestrained. Mike's mind was broken and the other personalities were weaker than him allowing the loss of memories of his time in juvie. Mal was able to brainwash the others to see him as the one in charge because of Mike's absence. Mike only came back when his mind was strong enough to handle him being in charge. Those are the reasons for each of his personalities and their triggers.

I honestly think Mal is the first personality. He barely has any emotions. When hes out, he can take the abuse and it not effect Mike [host.] therefor saving Mike as a person, and letting a psychopath take the worst parts of abuse that wont effect him. Its why he knows so much, since the abuse didnt hurt him. So he learnt all about the darkest abuse Mike got.

It's kinda distributing to think of mals fate tho if he was the original personality. Imagine losing control of your body for who knows how long ( several months? Years?). As I learned and dealt with DID I've had the theory (from mostly experience and research) that Mike: ANP and host ofc. Likely has some trauma but not too sure of it and not in a place to sort it out with his headmates. Vito: Sexual protector - formed from some sort of sexual assault. Likely also tries to help the system be more sociable. Svetlana: Emotional and Physical protector- Keeps the body safe from harm in the event of an overly physical threat, calms the other alters down when necessary. Chester: Gatekeeper- Knows all the trauma and never experienced it. Tries to keep everyone in check and makes sure everyone is okay. Manitoba: Physical Protector- Likely formed by neglect of some kind, he is resourceful and helps Svetlana keep the body alive. He helps the system when it's in trouble but usually that's Svetlanas job, so it's less likely he'll front. Mal: Emotional Part, Trauma holder, persecutor: He is likely one who holds more trauma than his headmates and decides he needs to keep the system safe by isolating it and lashing out when threatened. I like to pretend he was playing the 'evil alter' stereotype to further isolate the system and scare away some people who would relate to him.

I like the video but honestly i feel like people really don't understand mal. At the end of the day he just wanted to protect mike... remember he's a defense mechanism. Twisted and cruel sure but i mean look at the comments and see all those ignorant comments about how he's just "an edgy character" or "he was created for the edgy kids". and god i hate that word its like the most self deprecating insult ever but anyways... he's not an edgelord he's honestly just the part of mike that wants to lash out and dish back what he's felt the world sent his way. I mean his character is literally described by his name "mal" and his actions show mikes inner feelings about his life his characteristics show y he exists in the first place which you definitely couldn't miss at the end when he says "with me in charge no one would mess with us" he's the definition of fighting fire with fire! I mean as a personality he wanted to live too but he wasn't selfish he was fed up and its understandable when you think about it. I mean even if you take your theory away he would logically still be the strongest personality because unlike the others, who are basically different ppl, mal is literally just mike he's the dark side of mike literally the exact opposite

I think Mike, as a personality, DOES have a purpose. Maybe not to avoid abuse, but to prevent it. Who wants to hurt a nice sweet guy? It makes sense as to why that's why we see him first, and why he's the "dominant" or "original" personality.
@river17645 жыл бұрын
I think it might be some sort of parental abuse. Obviously this is not based on actual fact, but I could see Chester being based on his grandfather. As you said, he was the first alter, and if it is childhood abuse, it would make sense that his grandparents house would be a safe haven for him. Maybe veto's "trigger" is due to some extremely traumatic event or a form of sexual abuse at a young age (that's really dark for a kids show, but it makes sense), and if that is what happened, it would kinda make sense if every time that happened, the memories of that event came back and veto kicked in like a coping mechanism to fight those memories. Maybe this traumatic event was something physical and possibly happened multiple times most likely in a home environment. Maybe a sibling or parent did something unspeakable to him, and his only safe haven was his grandparents, which would explain veto and Chester. As he got older, he was bullied, causing the rest to appear (i don't know if this is how it works but this is also a cartoon, so accuracy isnt likely.) I would guess mal came along around puberty, and I could see something else also traumatic causing his mind to create another alter. Maybe it was inflicted by his classmates, since mal likes to make people's live miserable, and maybe this event was something his other alters couldn't handle. he might have done something to these bullies that was the reason he went to juvenile detention, where he met ducan and got help from a psychiatrist. As he got help he got control of his alters and then this starts of season 4. I could see Mike not remembering a lot of juvie, as he never brings it up in the series, not even in the confessional. Duncan said mal was who he met, so mal probably was in control during most of juvie, except maybe his psychology meetings, as he does know his psychologist. This is my theory though, and I'm so happy you made this!!!

Here are my thoughts to Mike's other personalities: Mike grew up in a home where he was abused, both verbally and physically. His normal personality, the Mike side of him, is obviously super sweet and caring, so it is likely that his mother was an incredible woman. However, she made the mistake of marrying someone who would end up traumatizing Mike. Wanting to get her son out of the house for as long as possible, she would constantly send him over to her parents, his grandparents' house. His great-grandfather would come over to his grandparents' house, and Mike would watch him as he grows up, dealing with frustration by being cranky and disagreeable. Despite this, he became close to the old-fashioned man. When he died, Mike decided to deal with his frustration the same way he did, thinking how long his life was and what amazing people he was surrounded by. For a young, abused Mike, this was ideal. His ethnicity has conformed to be Italian, a European country. His grandmother could have easily been a Russain gymnast who had fallen in love with his grandfather, an Italian man. Watching her tapes growing up, he learned how to do those stunts and thus Svetlana was created. It is even plausible that Svetlana was his grandmothers name; his grandmother was a strong woman who was infamous for using her athleticism to get out of trouble. However, when he reached middle school, he was mocked and ridiculed for being good at gymnastics, which was considered to be a 'girly sport' at his school. After years of watching his abusive Dad's old friends, 'Vito' came up, a personality that related with the bullies and got him out of trouble by being similar to the people mocking him.He could have also been sexually abused, and whenever his shirt came off, Vito was a defense to it, helping him get away from it. This created the trigger for Vito. He was accused of being dumb when Vito came up, and after years of watching old Indiana Jones movies and Steve Irwin tapes, Manitoba was created. A smart, cunning personality that could get him out of trouble. It can be possible that he wore his grandfather's old hat whenever he watched the old tapes, causing fedoras to become a trigger for that personality. Meanwhile, his Mother was still abused by his Father, and was eventually beat down so hard that she died broken when Mike had just entered the Eighth Grade. Mike knew that if it wasn't for his Father, his Mother would be happy and very much alive. All his dark thoughts towards his father manifested into another personality-Mal. Malevolence is defined as having or showing a wish to do evil to others. And he did, Mike wanted to hurt his Father, make him pay for hurting his poor, sweet Mother. He did do something bad to his father, bad enough to make his Father move back from Canada to New Jersey where his Father's friends resided. It was also bad enough to land him in Juvie, where Mal was a popular figure. After a while, he was released from Juvie and then lived with his Grandparents, who got him a psychiatrist to help him deal with what they had expected-MPD. His Doctor suggested to form a 'Reset' button in his mind, to release his other personalities and just leave Mike in case of it becoming too extreme. After months of visiting his psychiatrist, he saw a sign, asking for new Total Drama contestants. Mike had seen several episodes of the show, and saw that even if they got hurt, a lot of contestants had made lifelong friends. His Grandparents encouraged him to try out for the show, and he did...even though his psychiatrist didn't recommend it. After putting up with the abuse he endured on his first season, where he was abused by Scott and confused by Zoe, he started to think several darker thoughts. He pushed them out of his mind, for then, but Mike still had Mal brewing up a plan inside his mind. After Zoe ended up winning Total Drama All Stars, he then pushed away all dark thoughts and lived life happily, knowing that even if he was abused again, he would have friends to stand by him.
@Musicbrowser015 жыл бұрын
Maddie Melody That was truly beautiful with how you described it. And it is true that Mike has plenty of people who will stand by him. Of course, he has Zoe who is hard headed. And I mean it in a good way, because she refused to accept that Mike was gone. Even when Cameron theorized that Mike was gone, and after she buried the locket, she worried about Mal falling into the pit of acid. Gwen even reminded her that it’s not Mike. This shows that she subconsciously hopes that he’s still there. We also know that she doesn’t give up easily when Chef made her fall off a cliff, she adapted to survive. What this means is that she’s an ideal love interest for Mike since she cares for him, accepts him for who he is, loves him, believes in him, stands by his side, and adapts. If the show had focused more on Zoe’s survival tactics, I feel like she would have been able to form a bond with Manitoba or Svetlana. Manitoba because he’s like a mixture of Indiana Jones and Bear Grylls. And Svetlana because she gets through difficult physical challenges. Cameron is the friend who will be by your side and help you out if you ask him for help. He helped Mike handle the other personalities. While we weren’t shown much of Gwen showing friendship towards him, she has been show to be a friend due to her help to Cameron and Zoe. We do know that there are others who care for him. The truth is that he is no longer alone. This means that he doesn’t need to rely on the others anymore. And the reset button could have been more as a sort of first aid. What is meant by that is that it had helped heal Mike’s conscious mind and merged. When this this is applied, it makes sense as to why Mal is forced back. Because he’s meant to be a destructive defense system. He is an aggressive version of all of the personalities if they were merged. And because of this, Mal has also been affected. The reason he wasn’t absorbed back immediately was because he was in the conscious body. And because they were all being healed, he was forced back in. When he demanded to know what happened, Mike was stalling by showing the flashback. To give his subconscious time to merge Mal into him. Mal had almost full control over the subconscious, which was being given to Mike since they were merging. If they had tried fighting, Mal still would have had full control of the subconscious. It seemed more like he was stalling Mal, and only when Mal was gone, and he heard Zoe, that was when he could take back control. Because he knew she needed help, help that he could now provide all the time. And his personalities will still be a part of him. He could always get in touch by doing things that they would do, like go exploring like Manitoba would, take it easy like Chester, do gymnastics like Svetlana. They’ll still live through Mike.

As somebody with DID, I can say you have an amazing grasp on it. It can be very difficult to understand why things work the way they do sometimes. I highly relate to mike(more than i should probally admit). I think the best way to describe Mal is repressed wants and thoughts. Created from all of the bad things we dont want to acknowledge as a human. The "evil" personality is usually the last resort but strongest defence. As for what happened to mike....ill use my own personal experience as an example. I think mike grew up in a bad neighborhood and in a broken home. Im going to say its probally the father who was negligent/abscent/abusive since the female personality seems to be a kind hearted and positive influence. (Mother figure) I do think school bullying is a big factor, more middle school though where our own insecurities are at its worst and where the name calling begins to progress into physical violence. Manitoba was honestly probally an idol. Both steve irwin amd indiana jones were my biggest idols and i find it amusing. And makes me wonder if there is actually something to it. Like running away from our past to explore the past of others in a desperate attempt to understand how/why people work the way we do. I feel like ive been talking to much. But this is a topic so close to home for me and im very passionate about it.

Evil in the smallest details is a way to get rid of any possible threats, before it gets rid of you. So Mal is basically the Alternative solution. When Mike (Manitoba) got hit by Scott's shovel, it developed a statement of Mike being a target for possible threats that is life threatening. Even though Mal himself says and is stronger than any other, his purpose is still ultimate defense, though so superior that he is not willing to sacrifice himself and his purpose. Mal was triggered during Juvie, so it could be that Mike were attacked and beaten, then it developed and triggered Mal, and he immediately either knocked out or killed the Muggers. It's just my theory, but it could seem possible. BTW Sorry for you having or kind of having the MPD, hope this didn't offend or felt like attacking you or something.

Mal could also be the very first personality that split in Mike’s mind as a defence mechanism but Mike could’ve realized that Mal was making things far worse so he had the other personalities that were connected to a specific trigger instead of using one other personality for every single thing he needs to overcome. Mal is there as a last resort to Mike after the other personalities were created but Mal kept getting stronger and stronger because of the island and after Mike put the other personalities in their place Mal knew that Mike wasn’t as strong so he was just looking for the right moment to take over Mike’s mind like he did when Mike was sent to the Juvenile detention center. I just thought of something. I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner. There is a topic of psychology I was told about while I was in college. The three layers of the mind. I never took the class, but after I was told about it, I looked it up. And oh boy, was it something. And after watching this video, I was reminded of it. (#Mal is the best villain) According to this subject, you have three parts of your mind and they are as follows: Ego: The conscious mind. You as you are right now. Super Ego: The subconscious. Or even more accurately, your conscience. The thing that keeps you out of trouble. Id: Desires. Your darkest thoughts. Your malice, if you will. Id cares not for the consequences, all it cares about is what you want. And will do anything to obtain it. And oh boy, does this fit Mike to a "T". A crooked "T", mind you, but I digress. Mal wasn't lying when he said he was the original. He was there since the beginning. And he was mad about being locked away like he was. Mal is Id incarnate. Mike's fight against Mal was reminiscent of our own struggles with with our own dark thoughts.

I may be wrong, but I started thinking and what if the necklace Mike gave Zoey, is what he kept in order to....remember Mike. To remember his true identity. This could be why the necklace had his face on it. This could also be why he had such an identification crisis in season 5 with Mal. When he won against his other personalities in season 4, he felt enraged and in power, he was completely sure that the was the original personality and had that attitude towards the other personalities. But in season 5 he started doubting whether he really was the real one. Right after he gave the necklace away. Again, I could be wrong

Maybe Manitoba Smith was a sort of 'adult persona' Mike adopted as a child/teenager when he had to take care of himself? I've seen people with anxiety and the like talk about how wearing actual business clothes helps them psych themselves up to make adult phone calls or whatever. That could explain why the hat is the trigger, it was how he got into the mindset of caretaker of himself when he was too young to be expected to do so
@thepayback33534 жыл бұрын
I doubt anybody will see this but there technically is a trigger for Mal. Mal only appeared after Mike got hit in the head by Scott. Then was in control for good when Mike hit himself in the head with a rock. And him getting hit in the head being the trigger makes logical sense consider the way Mal is, he hates people and does anything he can to hurt them. When Mike was younger and would get bullied chances are when they bully would start to hit him Mal would take over and beat up the bully.
@melissaherrera9404 жыл бұрын
I personally don’t feel Mal is the original personality for the simple reason that Mal wouldn’t need to create other personalities to cope with traumatic experiences. Mal as an individual personality actually corresponds more to an antisocial personality disorder. When he pretended to be Mike, he proved to be charming and charismatic. He’s intelligent and seems to have no empathy. With a personality like that, one that can’t seem to process other emotions, why would he need to create other personalities to help him cope? Mike would have to be the true or the “original” personality.

Honestly I've always viewed Mike's personalities as like a spectrum of sorts, in the harvest moon episode Mal is unleashed from Mike, suggesting that Mal is Mike's opposite and in a way you can even see it as Mike is prey and Mal is the predator. You can even say the other personalities follow this idea of prey - predator as well. - old man - acrobat - tough guy - explorer In a way you can say each of the other personalities are almost like walls, separating Mike and Mal, which would explain why it takes something as extreme as a hard bang to the head to awaken him. Also Mal and Mike are the only two who have some control over the others, being capable of pushing the other personalities down, its also good to note the other personalities seem to serve both Mike and Mal, in the end the final battle was Mike vs Mal and who has a higher resolve which Mike won, proving the cruelty of a predator isn't necessary.

Going off of this theory stated at 7:50 that would make Mal the ultimate defense of Mikes mind if all the others are not up to the task then Mal comes out to make sure whatever is hurting Mike stops no matter the cost. So in a sense Mal isn’t evil he’s doing what he sees as right to defend the primary persona even at the cost of everything else. That is usually why multiple personalities are generated for defending the primary, it’s just Mal has gotten out of control and wants to be the “real” person that he can’t be.

my theory for why he has each personality It's odd that one of his triggers is that he takes off his shirt and the fact that his third personality is a female that's a gymnast, a profession known for flexibility adds to the creep factor.

Perhaps Vito being triggered by having Mike's shirt taken off could be traced back to an incident where kids bullied him by taling his clothes away. Something like that can really hurt someone, especially if they have to run around the school scared AND naked. So maybe Vito came out to exude that sepf confidence and cockiness Mike doesn't have. To take away that embarrassment. Because I could definitelt see Vito taking control of a situation like that. Edit: I just realized you said that. Another note, the hat being a trigger reminds me of how children dress of as their favorite super heroes, which may involve masks or hats. In that way he could have acted like Indiana Jones to save the day and save himself from whatever trauma he was experiencing.
@dordonake2 жыл бұрын
I have a theory that Mike's quirky personalities weren't meant to help him with life issues. They were meant to help him keep Mal burried in the back of his head. We could see in season 4 that Mike gained more control over his other personalities to an extent and Mal wasn't mentioned. Hardly even implied. Only forcing the funny personalities to take the backseat enabled Mal to take over, first half of the time, and later all the time. It's similar to Immunosuppression. Sometimes, the side effect of repressing one's immune system in order to fight autoimmune diseases is making the body more vulnerable to other diseases. In this case, the other personalities were an autoimmune disease and Mal was the other disease.

After that, they created Mike, an alternative personality of Mal's so that he could come out of the juvie and have a better life after. So Mal was the original and that's why He will probably will comeback again

To be honest, I've had a theory rattling around in my brain for a while now. I know I'm five years late but I'm still gonna share it. Mike was probably born with these personalities, all including Mal. I say at about the age of seven I guess he got tired of Mal causing trouble and then getting himself (and his personalities) in trouble, eventually landing him in juvie. While Mike was in juvie, he got rid of Mal for good and then got out of juvie for good behavior. I don't know if Mike got rid of Mal or locked him away in some.. Brain jail, but either way, Mal came back. And at the finale when Mike gets rid of him "for good", he probably is going to come back. Maybe in his 20's 30's or 40's. Mal always finds a way, and possibly new personalities could be growing inside his brain alongside Mal. Extra note: I know that some people head-canon that all of Mikes personalities got their new bodies, yes, I know some people can't accept the fact that they're gone. Including me. I have a feeling that they each are ether related to him. If there parents are abusive the safe haven would be the grandparents house so Mike might’ve picked up his grand-fathers actions and words. Sevlanta would be his sister/cousinwho grew up watching Russian Tapes and Russian gymnasts. Mike could’ve picked it up after she ether passed away or went missing to cope. Vito would be his brother/cousin that was tough and would be picking up girls left and right. He would stick up for his younger siblings and or cousins he would probably gotten killed for getting the wrong girl or he went missing. Manitoba would be a smarter Vito but not getting the lady’s easily. He would be ether mikes brother or cousin again, he would probably got missing or get killed for messing with the wrong animal. And Mal would be Mikes older brother, he would constantly fight back his parents and The bullies for Mike and he would have gotten into a fight with a bully and killed for it. Due to this Mal became Mikes strongest personality because he actually would’ve fight against anyone for mike in the end as he deeply cared for mike. I think Mal does care for mike but it’s overshadowed by Evil. Mike would’ve picked up on there actions and personality’s and used them for defense. Edit: Made this long ago, and I should Explain Mal I think, Every Personality, helps Mike in some way, and they all are shown to have some weird 'relationship', Why would this be different in Mal? He is 'evil' but he does help Mike. Obviously he hates Mike and everything. but in a weird way, I do think he does care for him. I also should explain that I have no psychology degree and I have very basic knowledge of what DID/MPD is. Idea wise, makes sense, but Psychology? More then Likely not...

This makes me think this: Mal: Mal is probably the first or second personality to come to be, he’s a defense mechanism, he’s cruel, Evil and merciless, he’s like a copy of Mike only darker, Mal embodies Mikes hatred, dark thoughts or feelings and shows that Mike can do much more then he seems, Hes a persona that hates being pushed around and will do anything to be the one on top, he represents a darker side of Mike that he repressed and hides away, as if Mal is a defense mechanism that fights back with cruel merciless force that created his existence, fighting fire with fire. Mal represents Mikes darker trauma, his hatred, his cruelty, Mal is a persona completely made from mikes darkness,trauma and hatred. He and Mike are yin and Yang, Mike being Yang(light) and Mal being yin(dark), Mal resorts to methods Mike wouldn’t and Mike resorts to methods Mal wouldn’t, they balance each other as Mal represents Cruelty or malevolent and Mike represents kindness or Faith. Also this could also explain why Mal isn’t given a specific trigger, it’s more like Mal is activated a both a last resort or a mental trigger is caused where Mal will take control, depending, which is why he’s the strongest. I also agree with fact that he could be a mix of all the personality’s, including the fact he’s a part of Mike, a part that Mike needs, the show didn’t handle how to deal with Mal well, you can’t just get rid of something or rather in this case, SOMEONE by pressing a button something else has to take the MPDs place or else it might and probably will effect Mike badly in the end due to not being used without them, Mike almost broke down in the confessional without them when he realised they weren’t responding, imagine how he’ll eventually react when it completely sets in that he’ll now forever be alone without any of his personality’s with him. Chester: Chester could’ve been made as Mike could’ve associated the emotions of anger, frustration and grumpiness with old people, or it could be from his grandparents that he applied his logic of representing anger, so if or when his grandparents or specifically, grandpa, died, Chester was made in both memory of the grandparent and as a person made to control and hold mikes frustration, as well as Combine with the fact that old people often are the ones frustrated and angry due to old age and stuff, you got Chester. Svetlana: I’m not sure about Svetlana, Svetlana could represent Mikes mom or other relative personality or skill (I’m not sure how to compare them) with gymnastics. Or Mike could’ve done gymnastics when he was younger and somehow an incident regarding it which caused Svetlana to be made, though this a very loose theory. I’m not sure what could’ve made Svetlana come into being. Vito: Vito might as well be one of the darkest origin stories if what I think caused him is true… Vito unlike Mike is a guy that’s extremely social, A guy that practically represents all brawn and no brain. Theirs two possibilities that I can think of that could explain Vitos trigger and why he’s so touchy and has all the social skills Mike doesn’t. He could,1, been bullied by his shirt being taken off and he’d get thrown into a lake or pushed around and physically hurt by bullies due to his social awkwardness and disorder and so eventually this caused Vito to form in order to protect him from both the bullies and make him a more social guy…even if Vitos personality is…questionable…. And the second theory is… he could have been Assaulted and Vito was a defense mechanism towards it, which is why he’s triggered when Mikes shirt is off, to protect him from potential threats as why he’s also strong and so touchy about who gets close, it could also explain his personality a little bit. Manitoba: Manitoba could’ve been made after Irwin or Indiana Jones, or after a childhood show, trip, anything like that. Why his trigger is a hat might be because most explorers wear hats in shoes and stuff which make Manitoba’s trigger a hat.

I find it funny how so many people say Mike's DID is horribly written when it's probably one of the better ones on TV. Of course it's not perfect, but when you look deeper into it, it's actually quite detailed for a kids' show. I could explain some things that I saw on other videos about Mike/Mal: "Mal is a stereotypical evil personality" Of course stereotypes like that are hurtful, but they're not always too far from the truth. Based on his behavior I think Mal is a persecutor: an alter that sabotages treatment of DID and hurts the body. He may also be some extreme kind of defender based on his line: "No one will cross you with me in charge". "The other alters are badly written" They're not actually. I'm not going to get into detail as that is explained in the video, but just look at the triggers. "The reset button was a bad way to end" It wasn’t actually. I'm not sure how to explain this one completely, but the button wasn’t an actual button, it was a metaphor. It was a similar process to therapy, just shown in a different way. One last thing that actually bothered me when I watched it were the breaths between switching alters, but I understand why they're there. This is a kids' show, not every kid will understand how switching works, so it's an easier way to sygnal the changes in the fronting alter. Keep in mind that I don't have DID, those are just my personal thoughts based on my knowledge of this disorder, so feel free to correct me if I got something wrong. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

I just want to correct you. Mal is a persecutor, or a trauma holder that has to hold onto a lot of trauma, so he does bad things. He isn’t an “evil” personality. Calling him evil would just make him do it more. Mal isn’t evil. He is misunderstood and he has been called evil so much that he thinks he should keep doing it. Second, there isn’t an original personality. Think of it as a glass bowl breaking. Which piece of the glass bowl is the original? Exactly. None of them. Mike may be the host and use the birth name, but he isn’t the original, and none of them are. It is a common mistake with people that see something about DID.

Okay but there’s still something I want to know: HOW can we see inside mikes head? I mean seasons 1-3 clearly established that there’s a live crew who films everything, so it doesn’t make much sense that the same total drama crew can film footage inside Mikes head. Are there microchips perhaps? Did the government or some kinda secret society pay the show to take on Mike to observe his personalities in a new environment? There’s defiantly something fishy....

Maybe the show whipped it up in editing so it wasn't just Mike staring off into space and then saying he's all better now? It's the only way it makes sense in-universe.

Mike in TDROTI: I exist, I like zoey, ThAtS aLl! Mike in TDAS: I have many personalities, an evil guy is possesing me pretty much, also I have an Anne Maria, Indiana Jones, An acrobatic maniac, and an old man in my brain Mike in TDAS again: Also I still love Zoey but I couldn't see her for the whole series after TDROTI because Mal stole her from me Mal: Did I say you could talk? Mike: I got rid of u a long time ago Mal: Oh yeah I forgot about that *Mal then spontaneously explodes*

Also, the personalities merge into Mike, from what I've read on the front page. I think the reset button was a metaphor for him making the conscious descision to let go of all of his protection, because he *"doesn't need (it) anymore."*

If you ask me, Mikes personalities can be sometimes helpful. Mostly svetlana and manatoba? Svetlana helps him get through some difficult challenges, and manatoba helps guide the team through the mines.
@Cooldude-ko7ps3 жыл бұрын
6:20 yeah. I’m guessing that the trigger for Manitoba evolved to wearing a hat because it’s simple and easy to switch so the other personalities can easily get a hat to switch to him if he’s needed. Heck Mike might even have a hat on him at most times so he can switch quickly. Edit: and Manitoba seems to have a wide range of skills.

My guess is Mike probably had a sheltered life for most of his childhood, maybe mostly homeschooled. He'd rarely meet people and his personalities are based off types of people he saw on tv that fit closest to those needs. He eventually joined public school and was bullied enough to the point that his mind couldn't take it, so when feeling anger became old man Chester. Needed to flee, created Svetlana off a pro gymnast and triggering Mike's inherent agility that he never used, thus the personality always used it. Vito when he tried acting like the bullies when agility no longer worked, based Vito off an Italian mobster, but also not too bright. People liked Vito but the bullies might have picked on his lack o intelligence, so when a hat was put on his head he then created Manitoba to get through hard problems. But the bullies started laughing at this too, eventually causing his buried anger and hatred to create Mal, Mal might have done something to get revenge on the bullies that got him sent to Juvie. But they soon realized his strange multiple personality disorder and had a therapist help Mike get Mal under control, so Mike still kept the others as they weren't a danger to anyone, might be weird a annoying but not a danger, got warned about joining the show, but he did anyway. Overall Mike is a very fun character, seeing him randomly switching but then later Cameron helping him get them under control, eventually using them to his advantage to complete challenges, and Mal at times causing trouble for Mike and the others as a secret antagonist. Mike made his seasons really good.

Mal is in control because it seems like on multiple occasions he was the one in control. So maybe Mike loves being evil and getting revenge on the people that hurt him most.

Each personality is a fragment of the whole. I'm the same way, I even have gaps in my memory from the constant switching. My childhood was full of abuse and I have similar results. I never suffered any sexual assault, but, I have a personality that takes over when I get hit hard enough. My body's been molded from all the abuse I've gone through. Now, I can take a hit and never feel it. You'd have to hit me in certain weak points like my nose or my bad knee. Those are the most sensitive parts of my body besides the groin. Most recently, that happened when some guy hit me with his car. I got up and snatched him out the car by smashing through the window. I even have one personality that takes over when I'm around someone who betrayed my trust and takes my loyalty for granted. It keeps me in line because I'm so angry that I can snap on that person at any point. At that point, I'm at my most dangerous because all of my intelligence and creativity are going towards revenge. I can relate to the character very well.

This was made a while awhile ago but if Mike was bullied in school it would have most likely happened in the schoolyard or boy's locker room. If your progression is correct than a locker room would be the best place to awaken a Vido personality. He would be older and more acquainted with bullying at that point. In a locker room his shirt could have been pulled off or was already in the process of coming off to change clothes. In a locker room Mike's gymnast personality might have been useless in such a closed room situation. He might have even been successfully hemmed into a corner of the bathroom by the bullies. Indiana Jones could have come out of watching Indiana Jones like shows. If Drama Island is 2000s then wouldn't it fit around the time Indiana Jones was seeing a bit of a revival in the real world? When Dr. Jones puts on the hat he is READY, really determined and clever adventurer. So Mike could have wanted to emmulate that without being so outwardly charismatic with his shirt off trigger as Vido.
@6DestructionRebirth93 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think that he had all the other personalities before juvenile detention and developed Mal as a protector while there. Mal probably doubles as a protector and the one who holds all of the trauma as usually the littles or protectors do.

I have a mal theory myself (more of a headcannon really). Maybe Mal wasn't always the "evil one". What if when Mike was younger, chester got too old and couldnt protect mike anymore and so mal came to be. At first he was a younger chester, a protector, but what if the bullying/abuse continued and he went too far trying to protect them? In the end it made everyone think of him differently and it got him banished as well as getting mike thrown in juvi. And then slowly, being stuck in the dark, he went insane especially after he heard that mike was trying to get rid of them. Them. his defence mechanisms.
@ChaiKitty77792 жыл бұрын
So basically, Mal is Mike's vengeance drive. All his anger personified and wanting to get back at anyone who is or can become a threat.

Hey @The Theorizer , I've seen you make a lot of videos about TDI and saying the characters have D.I.D . I'm super thankful that you understand it well enough to use the proper terms! ( You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get someone to understand with out saying MPD :^( ) I heard it in this video and from other people, I even had to figure it out slowly, but there isn't useually an "original". If you tear a paper in half, neither one is an "original" and it's the same with DID. You can have alters that have formed earlier, but it doesn't make them an "original". Another thing, more related to the theory, alters can't just slap a button and intrgrate (or get killed). Intergration involves lowering of dissociative barriers, the blocks that stop potential trama memories spreading, and useally a willingness from the alters who are intergrating. What most likely happened is that the others were put into a forced dormancy. -thank you

I was thinking Mal was possibly the personality that came to be 2nd after Mike, often aggressive personalities are made to hold traumatic memories and defend the host from abuse
@crownedcreeps4 жыл бұрын
First; we all serve a purpose Two; I think the last part would stand for integration Three; it has to be caused by repeated trauma before age of 7-9 when the mind naturally integrates Four; Manatoba would be a fictive from what I know of the show Five; Mal would be a trauma holder, persecutor, and the original host I believe Also with the theory of multiplicity; everyone has different ego states the at age 7-9 they merge (integrate) but form trauma they have separate ideas for survival and they don’t integrate
