Only 50 user reviews on steam for Pharoah (For release day)... Rome 2 has 45,000 over the course of many years, and the fairly new Warhammer 3 has 63,000. I'm glad CA managed to make a game neither side of the community buys.

WH3 is so much more of a game since it build off of 1 and 2. Pharaoh is just another TW game setting, and arguably less interesting. It was a poor business decision imo, as many people aren't into historical as much. Plus, if they are they have so many other games that cover that already.

Yes, that is the true tragedy here. It isn't that the market demand is low but that what they put out into the market is not what TW Historical title fans want. 7:45 The reason the map is cut off is because there will likely be a third title - Total War: Assyria (or Babylon) - that will make a ginormous combined campaign map with Troy and Egypt. It will be the Immortal empires of the historical series.

My opinion on the game has changed slightly after CA took the massive decision to admit they have disappointed the fan base and even decreased the price two months after release. This is the same person who just gave DA: Veilguard a 9/10. Makes sense now. For context, this game, even after full blown overhaul and re-release (tons of extra content and 33% price decrease) currently has 716 active players, 24h peak of 1,012 players, and 7,980 all-time peak. (original release had 5,424 all time peak, they re-released it as Total War: PHARAOH DYNASTIES) For comparison: Rome II, a game that is 11 years old has 3,575 active players, 5,499 24-hour peak and 118,240 all-time peak. Three Kingdoms, a game that was abandoned by developers and is over 5 years old, has 1,694 active players, 6,436 24-hour peak and 192,298 all-time peak. Medieval 2, game that was released 18 years ago has 3,173 active players,4,885 24-hour peak and 8,419 all-time peak. So even after addition of Babylon, Assyrians , Troy, Mycenae, massive map overhaul, it is still outperformed by basically every other TW game. So how is this person a TW veteran? Is playing a TW game for 50 hours considered being an expert? Most TW players play these games for hundreds if not for thousands of hours. Get someone who actually knows ins and outs of games, not "map looks nice, and I can travel faster if I sail down the river".
