Why do I block out the Mini-Map with annotations for Sub battle replays?
I block it out because the Mini-Map gives away who sent in the battle replay. And in most cases whoever sends in the battle replay wins the battle. So I block it to keep it a surprise :D

This was my first siege. Looking back, I should've brought more swordsmen, less artillery and less of those useless auxiliary spearmen. Live and learn, right? :P I had a few good moments, though. At 22:20 the Carthaginian player took my bait and counter charged my legionaries, but he pulled back most of his troops before I could counter his counter-charge. It was a good match though. :) -PartTime13adass

I'll be honest when Carthage kept retreating from position after position without even a little resistance I thought they were screwed, but they put up a much better fight than I thought and until the last 5 minutes or so I thought they maybe had a chance at winning

Fighting the roman heavy infantry on the walls is the most stupid thing you can do. They'll tank out any unit the Carthaginians could bring.

Crying Seal ._. I have to disagree, a cheap but sturdy unit like a hoplite can be worth fighting a roman heavy infantary on the walls, they will be defeated easy, sure, but hold up for a long time and with the towers they will be cost effective in giving the romans a lot of casualitys and make them tired so your better units can mob them up. depends on the funds, too though.

Hannibal was the man, and kicked Roman ass for years. I greatly admire his gumption. And then in the third "war", Carthage starts recovering and they burn a city full of noncombatants to the ground. Kinda horrible.

+Tom Rundell I admire Hannibal but, from a historical perspective if the Carthaginians would have prevailed it would have been horrible. Carthage, had a corrupt bureaucratic senate. The author of The Young Carthaginian, G.A. Hently, had this to say about the carthaginians, " At the time the war began Carthage was already corrupt to the core, and although she might have enslaved many nations, she never civilized them." (I introduction). Rome built roads and had faithful allies. Carthage had puppet states that turned away from them whenever they could.

dude, I love legionaries because they are the basic roman infantry and make up most of the army, but I also would prefer Hastatis and Triarri

The entire roman army was called the legion, the soldiers in it called legionnaires. This includes Hastati,triarii,princeps,veltes. They were just pre-marian. The legion went through multiple reforms.

Ripped their way through the mighty Thracians and the proud greeks and even further into Armenia . And in the game? The weakest late game infantry of all the western factions.

It would be cool to see this redone with historically accurate Roman army composition. The Punic Wars happened long before the Marian Reforms----thus, no legionaires: only Hastati, Principes, and Triarii

Even tho this was last year.. makes me want to download that game again from my steam and get into some Online play. I never actually did online battles, only did the campaigns. Campaigns were a blast but I bet an intelligent enemy would be fun to fight.
