every now and then i come back to watch this video because it's so ridiculously cool to see this one small unit take on hundreds of dudes at the same time. i used to have a computer that wasn't ever able to run this game so i would always look up youtube videos of the total war games i wished i could play - so instead i liked to write random shit about this kind of stuff all the time when i was in school. this and wargame red dragon were my fav strategy games to look up.

Actual battles man during the Sengoku Period, the period where this game is set. The Battle of Okehazama, one of the legendary battles fought between Nobunga and Imagawa, was in fact a 2000- 20,000 battle. Nobunaga won this battle, killed Imagawa (Yoshimoto) and his legacy began. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Okehazama Another battle, The Battle of Hitotoribashi was fought between Masamune (Date) and the Anti-Date, so basically everyone else in the region who had formed an alliance (federation) to take the Date clan down. Although out-numbered 7,000 to 30,000, Masamune won the battle by retreat by the enemy. But, Masamune lost his teacher and advisor, Yoshinao (Sadsuki) Oniniwa, who also was a military genius who fought along side Masamune's great-grandfather, grand father and father as their right-hand man. Yoshinao was 73, the oldest to be on the battle field. He stayed and charged in, so that Masamune and his men could retreat safely. He and his men took the head of 200 men and Yoshinao sacrificed himself at the end after Masamune had safely retreated back to his outpost (castle). I have already calculate it. It means each samurai have to kill 60 ashigaru. I think its possible if the ashigaru only in game. Logically, those ashigaru should surround, make wall of spear, and ram those 30 samurai. Considering the long yari, there should be no casualties among the 1800 ashigaru.

For people that doesn't understands why the Samurai won: 1- Level 9 vs level 0 2- Strongest melee unit in the game vs weakest tanks 3- Enemies routing because BANZAI!!! Its still impressive, but thats what the Hero Samurai where programmed to do, and thats what the Yari Ashigaru were programmed to do as well, to die.

lovely how warscape engine makes numbers advantage irrelevant, because you can only engage in 1v1 duels. in old TW games a unit twice as powerful as the hero, would be slaughtered, because being surrounded actually meant something.
