All jokes aside, I notice an uptick in Roman-themed Undead factions in various games in recent years. Dominions 5 has Ermor, Battle Brothers has the Ancient Undead (who even have pseudo-germanic and pseudo-celtic undead Auxiliaries), Songs of Conquest has the Barony of Loth, and the tabletop wargame Conquest has the Old Dominion (which also has some Byzantine stuff in their roster, like Cataphracts and Varangians). Not sure where that came from, but I'm not complaining. I'd love to see more Undead Romans.

@@Caldaris As a certified Dominionsologist (Don't quote me on that), I can tell you that it is the Dwarf Fortress of strategy games. The amount of unique Factions, Spells, Craftable Items, and strategies is without equal. You want to lead an army of sapient Magma humans clad in the heaviest armour possible? That's a thing. Wanna wage war with Japanese Oni as semi-divine Angels governing over armies of monkeys? Thats possible. A lot of the factions in the game is based on real life mythology, Mixed with tabletop games and some such. Fair warning, You should really watch a tutorial series before playing the game as it is incredibly complicated and detailed, And it does not teach you at all :D

It's pretty funny to see you doing this one because i'm almost done reading through a series called Codex Alera which is a pretty similar scenario to what you're doing here. It's basically "the lost legion" myth but it was Julius Caesar's legions, dropped into a fantasy world with magic (via binding elemental spirits) and a lot of nonhuman races. Story starts almost two thousand years later after the misplaced romans have managed to tame the spirits and used their new found magic and good old legions to tame their corner continent via good old total war and a bit of genocide. It's a pretty good read.

This is way more historically accurate than it needed to be for a meme video. Seriously. You: * Explained phalanx style of fighting and its vulnerabilities: broken terrain, "advanced" tactics (aka flanking) * Used the dangers for an ambush to illustrate the clusterfuck of Teutoburg * Defeating pirates signals the rise of Caesar * The whole cohort-manipular comparison, down to the contubernium

Okay, the lesser known fact that Julius Caesar was a renowned slayer of giant hermit crabs has won me over.

I would highly suggest next for you to play as, Grimgor the Liberator ( AKA history's Cyrus the Great). Basically play him similar to the Persian Achaemenid Dynasty. What made me think the Grimgor to be akin to Cyrus was him leading the black orcs revolt against the Chaos Dwarves who definitely is our world's version of the Babylonians, and other mesopotamian kingdoms. Of course what reinforces Grimgor, and his greenskins for warhammer's persian empire is the IMMORTULZ.

One correction. The legion had 10 cohorts, but 9 of them had 480 men - the first cohort consisted of 5 double centuries (500 men). In addition, there were approximately 120 horsemen in the legion.
