so what im hearing is, 1 vampire can kill about 250 humans in a fight, a blood dragon can take on 12 vampires, so one blood dragon can kill roughly 3,000 humans, amd a unit of 60 blood dragons on horseback can kill somewhere around 180,000 humans. talk about overpowered, this single unit can take on 18 fully stocked armies at once... Yup, sounds pretty balanced to me

I'm sorry to say this but Manfred is by no means just an above average sorcerer, he spent the years when knorad was savaging the empire studying the black arts, he was one of the most terrifying death sorcerers ever. In fact I think at one point it says in the table top law that he is more powerful than Vlad. I mean in the table top he knows all the spells of vampire lore and of death lore. This was a great video but I don't think you did Manfred justice.

I think CA could learn a lot from how Warhammer: Mark of Chaos handled things like attatching heroes on units on the fly, challenges and magic within real time battle. It seems to me a pretty good interpretation of how a PC Warhammer game could be in terms of battle. Of course the campaign was basically following a particular stack of army around a pre-determined path, more like Heroes of MIght & Magic, rather than managing a whole faction. But on the battlefield, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos did a lot of things right imo.

Gakgaming have you ever played the earlier incarnations, i.e.Shadow of the Horned Rat and/or Dark Omen? I remember playing WH: Dark Omen on PS1 of all things, and it was awesome. Additionally, I don't think it's fair to compare the scope of MoH with that of any TW game, they are just two different sub-genres. IMO, the scope of MoH was a good fit for the story, especially in Empire's campaign.

i think one way to "balance" the vampire counts is that they need at least one vampire in every army and that they can only have a limited numbers of vampires at play, that means they are a powerfull army but one that cant divide or cover much terrain without the risk of being outnumbered or letting their domains exposed.

Sadly we don't get based Vlad. We instead get that spoiled brat Manfred...UNTIL YESTERDAY. His free DLC is awesome. In the afterlife his spirit was tutored by 40K's Creed and now can use his UNPARALLELED SKILLS IN THE DARK ARTS to grand Vanguard Deployment to himself and everyone else in his army. But wait. He also can get a trait at rank 4 that allows him to give experience to his troops every turn, and do the same to all Vampire Counts armies (though the latter get a little less of them). He's fun. And better by a long shot than Manlet...I mean Manfred.

+Maciej Bohn To be fair, just going by the army books Mannfred isn't looking that bad. Vlad managed one war which he lost when his 'I keep dying, but I'm not acknowledging it!' ring and then lost. Mannfred avoided the mass murders of the whole vying for the leadership of Sylvania and went to study in the hopes of getting powerful enough to do what others could not. Then he came back and unlike Konrad he bided his time (as Vlad did) then went to war, Mannfred managed two wars before the end and in one of those he was beaten by 'And then the Empire dispelled his entire army because we can't let the Empire lose.' He doesn't sound like a bad guy to lead the faction to me.

DaGreenskin Orc I do not know who they are and aren't adding, just saying that I don't think Mannfred is a bad call for the main leader of the vampire counts. I don't see why they wouldn't have Konrad really as he's perfectly acceptable as a war chief - just can't really see him as leading a faction, he seems more of a berserker than a planner when compared to the other Von Carsteins. Might be worth taking only Vlad or Mannfred from the Von Carstein line and bringing in vamps from other bloodlines as the secondary generals though, just for variety.

kemmlers big selling point are his 3 magical artefacts: his chaosblade, his mantle and his staff. his blade makes him an awsome fighter and gives him the ability to regenerate some troops automatically with each kill. his mantle gives him either the power of flight or makes him etheral. his staff is basically a radar for magical artefacts. think about it: an ethereal guy who heals the unit he stands in by killing your men.

Great videos mate. You've just forgotten coven throne . The unit , which does not play often , but it's definitely pretty kickass . Just for that, you get a hero to this beauty with two other vampires. As a result, you have a chariot full of ghosts and vampires are 2 values ​​as a hero . My and Egypt send armies of 5-6 thousand people every turn against just him and he would wipe them out. In the end me and Egypt had to form an alliance to kill the bloody bastard and I won the province because I was the only person with any troops left.

By the time you would meet them they have usually started to fall apart and you control most of Europe so even with bad-ass generals and armies you can just zerg rush em to death

Excuse me, Mister Arch, I have an idea for how the Vampire Counts Generals could level up. You start off with, say, Manfred and his Berserker buddy as your 2 default leaders. Now, when you need a new army you get a normal, basic Vampire. Once he levels up once or twice you can choose which kind of Vampire he becomes, like a Von Karston (did I spell that right?) or a Lamian or a Blood Knights, ECT. Though, they wouldn't be able to turn into a Strigoi, for obvious reasons. Depending on which Vampire species you choose, you can get different units that are either unique to them or become cheaper for that general. Like, perhaps the Lamian Vampires could use human "mercenaries" while Blood Knights have a discount on recruiting other Blood Knights. Does this sound like a sound/plausible idea?

Arch, you say that ALL the vampire count units are inferior and that is not really true. VC core uits are inferion to man-sized units yes but the special units are capable off going toe to toe with any man-sized unit, the problem on tabletop is that the special and rare units off VC are insanly expensive but that should not be a big problem in a TW senario. And as you say VC magic is a support based magic that buff the units so if CA do not implement a good magic system for VC they will need to buff the core units or VC will have a really weak core army.

I know this won't be added as the vampire counts have already been made but I'll like it if you start if with Vladimir than if you can't afford him then you can dilute the bloodline and have manfred as your lord then if you can't afford him you can dilute the bloodline again and have comrad as your lord. Then as you get more money you can go back up a level.

I think the Strigoy could be like bezerker units of the vampire counts, which as a faction could be divided into 3 sub-factions (bloodlines) with unique traits or units. I honestly don't want to get too negative just yet, because SEGA did the pretty good DOW II series, and that model seems to be what they're going for with this. Remember, DoW II was released with only 4 races, and Chaos was added with a great storyline in the first expansion, and the IG were added in the second (not so good storyline tho). I think after all is said and done, we can look forward to 6-7 races total, with a new campaign, bigger map and a race being added with each expansion...and unfortunately plenty of DLC.

Max Schauffler natural selection really, the BD's will turn pretty much any one as long as they think he may be useful at least as cannon fodder and will use them as such. And so any one that actually becomes a propper blood knight by resisting the control of his master has to be pretty damn tough.

Do you imagine heroes being attached to a unit or as a seperate unit entirely? Would be interesting if you play the campaign with a single hero, with the hero respawning if he dies. Can also imagine Vampire Count armies being quite large however depending on Vampires and Necromancer to actually exist without crumbling. Meaning if the enemy manages to destroy all Vampires/Necromancers your army will crumble.

The Batswarm can be used a very good support unit, batswarms couse Always strike last to units in base contact so they are great to make your other troops strike first for once or to royaly fuck the pesky elfs by removing their rerolls from ASF+ higher initiative, always fun to do.

+jeova0sanctus0unus Tomb Kings have archers because of the spell used to first kill and then ressurect them. Everyone was killed and raised with the there skills intact. Raising a random skelly = raising a deceased soldier. And all troops, archers, artillery crew and frontline troops are all trained in sword combat. Thus vampires just go for the comman denominater which is close quarter combat.

+Joshua Gardner Vampire Counts didn't have archers in their rulebooks since 5th or 6th edition, and TW Warhammer is based pure on 8th edition, so the only ranged option you get is magic. They also used to have catapults at some point but that was ages ago.

Im confused... how can you say Manfred is a bad wizard...? he is a loremaster in 2 spell class's... and he can manipulate the winds of magic to give him more power.. his armor is made of the ash of the vampires he destroyed when he came back and took over after konrad.. giving him 2 extra wounds.... and he is as good as Vlad in combat at hitting.. though no ward save...

What I don't understand is why there are so few factions in the game apparently theres only four - 4 - to start with Oh it's harder to implement the variety warhammer offers - horseshit Mechanics are simple to implement if they've been properly designed and ffs the same flying code developed for the griffon is used for the wyvern in the demo the coding of the base units does not change between unit graphics Black Orcs will use the same code as other infantry Trolls will use the same code as other medium class and its essentially the same used for the infantry -- don't let them lie to you and say it was hard to get a few of them to vomit ffs Ogres will use the same as every other heavy class -- in fact the spider probably uses something real damn similar to the mounts As far as coding goes - it's a b/s line How about graphics for the units? Seeing as they have absolutely zero need for any concept work aside from the ui and in-game map - they've already saved, what, 20% of those costs? They only need 4 skeletons - one for 4 legged - probably re-used from prev games -- one for humanoid - re-used -- one for flyers - one for spiders -- and most of them will re-use animations - the ork infantry charge will be the same as the black or charge as the orc lord charge In other words the majority of the behind the scenes content for graphics are already made as well - saving another what 15% at least so with a roughly 35% - obvi an educated guess - savings on graphics - what SPECIFICALLY has stopped them from including other factions??? I am legitamately confused by this -- How about for numbers of units? If you compare with previous games, there is a substantial decrease in variety Perhaps we will see more apon release, but there really isnt enough content in the game as it stands to justify a measly 4 factions to start with and before you start - chaos is dlc with roughly 5 new units and 3 lord class - not already in the base game - for a grand total of 8 new units for dlc that my guess will cost $10 last thing - the magic looked like utter crap not to mention gimmiky to all hell- id rather it have not even been included long story short - what they've shown is a prelude to failure and I hope it bankrupts the company and sega along with it I'm getting sick of seeing Warhammer and 40k abused by money grubbing cunts - who don't put in the effort it deserves same goes for Relic and dawn of war 2 -- especially retribution -- oh we need to make it more accessible to 12yr old er her her faggots

Vlad is one of the best damn lords in the game , though. He can take on multiple units himself ffs.

Mabey killing the vampire General would be the goal of a battle against them because well the battle is going every solder you lose they gain

Joe Bob It's a little different than that. They need to actually cast a spell successfully to raise more Zombies or Skeletons, and while it's not a difficult spell you can always fluff (or more likely, your opponent can use his wizards to frustrate your magic). If the Vampire general dies, the whole army starts to crumble to bits (not to mention the fact that they just lost a General that they spent somewhere between 20-25% of their army's points/gold limit on), so losing the General early on is practically a death sentence, although if you play well you can still break the enemy and win, though it'd be a hard fight).
