The drone footage adds so much to give the viewer an overhead perspective of the terrain, the dogs, and rescue vehicles. Most Outstanding. We also would like a Lizzy Update on the Ranch Life. Maybe a short cameo appearance in The Heavy Wrecker?

I have been towed by many chains, but my best story was when I was towed across town in a VW camper van with a garden hose to the scrapyard. I think that it stretched a little more than a kinetic rope. LOL

I love that Tom has joined the MORR family tradition of running out of gas! In the 70’s when I was getting my Army driving licence I was taught to drive with my thumbs outside of the wheel to avoid getting them broken. We were driving land rovers and 5 tonne trucks without power steering, so I don’t think it is a power steering issue. To unstick vehicles, I always carried a high lift jack, which may have helped in the second recovery.

Using knees as dampers is an S tier trick, thank you for sharing that Breaking thumbs is a real concern in track racing (what I typically do) and off road things (what you typically do) In track land we even instruct to hold the steering wheel entirely on the outside now in order to prevent thumb breaks

This is why i tell people synthetic rope still snaps back. People dont seem to understand that the energy has to go somewhere no matter whats being used. I used a 4in strap to straighten a truck frame. Other end was wrapped around a tree without a knot and when it snapped it bunched up under the wheel before the truck dropped 3 inches back onto the ground

After watching for a few years, and still going back re-viewing the vids, it's still hard to put a finger on WHAT the magic of the channel is, that so very much works. Matt's personality sells a lot, the rescues are always interesting, the builds are just crazy, the wheeling completely nucking futz... There is not ONE thing. It's just you guys doing what you do, and the camera guys catching some minor aspects of it. You have great people working for you, you meet all sorts of interesting folks, and most of that aspect of life translates to video amazingly. My 60 year old sister is now hooked on you. While she was here visiting, I watched a few vids on the big screen, and after she expressed interest showed her some of the hairier stuff you guys have done. She keeps checking for updates, she hasn't figured out the update days yet, and I haven't told her, so she's just churning thru old content. MOST EVERYONE can find aspects of the vids to grasp. It's the legit people, the content, the great job the geek squad does for you editing and stuff. LAWDS knows that editing is the hardest part! I swear one day I will upload a complete and proper vid. ADD and laziness keep me from doing a GOOD job on anything!

A few people will gratefully appreciate your hint about using the knees as a buffer on the steering wheel when there is no power steer available. A few old Toyota drivers have "Toyota elbow". The old ones had a doorlatch assembly which was just in the correct place for the funnybone area to be smashed against it when the steering kicked.

@larsharris
@larsharris Жыл бұрын
@@TylerDuysen most jobs like this could be done 20 different ways. It depends on equipment, people. Matt said the tow truck would be his go to. Failing that he looked over job.. Minor damage to vehicle not a major concern. A lift brace, way to fill in hole, lift off of rock nice. But assumes equipment not normally handy. If he had a pay loader handy. He would have done it different. I have never used a winch with “cloth” rope. Just steel cable. Next winch will likely have rope.

while you are absolutely correct on the first part you are 100% wrong on the second to be absolutely polite matt was an idiot for doing this job with the wrong gear he put everyone in danger using synthetic rope instead of steel cable sythetic rope should only ever be used in a static environment (other than the sling ropes ) and they arent for sharp rocks etc matt knew better and did it anyway @@larsharris

Always used heavy logging chains or a polypropylene cable but that was 50 years ago using an old school Power Wagon with 2 ton drivelines. One tow was a Volvo Wagon and I was surprised at how heavy it was compared to other vehicles its size as it was really working the 440. Turns out the owner forgot the keys in the trunk and when he gave me the signal to go and he found out he forgot his 4 wheel hydraulic parking brake locked which required the keys to unlock. He also forgot he had to flash the lights as the signal to stop since with the factory straight through muffler I couldn't hear the wimpy Euro Horn and we were going between 35 and 40 mph with all 4 of his wheels locked when he finally flashed his lights. It felt much lighter after he released the brake but I could feel the out of round thumping of his tires through the chain. After that I always pulled 10 to 20 feet first and then got out to verify things before proceeding. One hot day the tires dug into a asphalt patio so well while pulling tree stumps with the PTO military winch on the front it actually slid the 20X30 foot patio almost a foot before we realized what was happening. The engine was just idling and the 5/8 inch cable on the winch wasn't stressed at all. They started calling it The Beast after that. The winch on The Beast shredded the 10 ton polypropylene cable like it was wet spaghetti one day as if it didn't even exist. Best!

My grandpa pulled me in a cavalier about 45 miles down the road with a logging chain. Which fine but he felt like doing 55 was appropriate even though the car wouldn't run. If you've never been pulled the vehicle getting pulled is the brakes. NOT FUN at 55-60 mph

You all earned a night off. I hope you get the whole night. Matt's still on top of his game for recovery methods. You all rock. Hope Jamie had on the proper shoes, I think I saw sandles though. Cody has control of filming and is at the top of his game. TT ran out of gas. If he ever says a thing to Matt we will have him burned at the stakes.

I always learn so much about off reading when I watch your videos! The tip on driving the Toyota 4WD with power steering and the one I will remember for a long time, is when you asked a guy what size shirt he wore and someone said Xtra-Fat…I was rolling on the floor with that one..

Had a 69 F250 4x4 no power steering, Ford at that time had a single almost straight across center bars in the steering wheel. Drove some rough roads back then. In the bad places I would grab those center bars and pull down. Don't recall any wheel attacks but that was 50 years ago. wish I had that truck today. It was in the days of bias directional tires. We would mount them on backwards for more traction, weren't worth mouse fart on pavement

1:45 “what does your sign language mean?” Reminds me of growing up watching my dad give hand signals to mom and the rest of the family around the farm. Some were simple, others not so much-more like baseball coach signals that changed from situation to situation.

International needs 6x6 a 2nd rear axle. Extend the rear and Add a middle power axle. Above the 2nd axle have a small logging style loader with a special shaped boulder, car, and mobility claw grabber like a piggyback skidder has. Like a A frame loader with outriggers that come out the frame make you stable solid as a sky scrapper nothing tipping you over. Also on side hills outriggers can level you out a good bit for using the winch, or loader. Big claw that grabs TRXs that fall off cliffs. Move Boulders safely out if the way then back after towed through like nothing was there. Awe bro lemme get in a shop and get me some parts to build for you lol 🙏
