@@chauna5413 dang, my heart goes out to you and you raised a great point. I imagine there are many people who specially spent all of that money, took time off work, and totally inconvenienced themselves solely to go see Shelly, this person, or that person compete, only to leave empty-handed. Jamaica is a fairly poor nation; people do not have all this money just laying around to spend on extra stuff. Regardless of whatever the situation of one may be, I would be devastated.

Being that 2025 will be her last hurrah, Shelly has some unfinished business in Tokyo. We all remember what happened at the 2021 Olympics. The Tokyo track is only 3 years old so it's still fast. Given that the world championships are in September, Shelly has more time to rest, recover and train. The same can be said for Shericka and Elaine. Oh what I wouldn't give to see the big 3 one more time.

My wife and I loved our experience at Paris across 20+ events including this night at the track (it was our priority ticket bought over 12 months out as the then expected race of the century, which did not happen). But to be honest, we saw a lot of really bad organisation go down that seemed to be covered over for the good of the games. We nearly came home early on because we could not believe how bad parts of the organisation was as spectators having paid a lot of $$$ to be there, so a similar reality for the athletes does not surprise at all. We have our tickets for Tokyo so really hope she is there!!!!!!! I have no doubt Tokyo will run to clockwork in Japanese tradition, they deserve nothing better after the challenges of 2020/21.

What was so bad? I was there too, and I was actually impressed with how smoothly everything went. Transportation was excellent, and getting into the stadium was surprisingly quick and hassle-free. There were no major issues. Maybe I'm a bit biased since it was my first Olympics, but I've experienced far worse organization at events of this scale.
@craigmoy5428
@craigmoy5428 Ай бұрын
@@Marine-el2sx It varied event to event, but to confirm examples, the first day of the football the Wed before the Friday opening ceremony, there were literally 4 police doing pre bag screening which led to a 30 minute wait before getting near to the actual entrance and further bag checks and ticket checks. Parc Des Princes is hardly a large stadium 40,000 so taking an hour to get in was not great, then we had a volunteer wanting to argue with me that we were in the wrong place, which we were not and would not let us go to our seat, waving us away. We ended up going up to the next bay and the person there needed to walk us back and explain that we were in the right place. The next day at the rugby 7's (at Stade de France), the lines to get drinks while only having about 20 people took over 45 minutes for service, then they ran out of cold drinks and were bringing coke in on pallets hot from outside and handing them out (this after 7 years of knowing you had the games). The next day we went to the opening ceremony which in the location we were at had effectively no signposting and the police and volunteers were clearly not trained in being able to assist. We ended up reaching our allocated entrance at 3.15pm on a narrow cobblestone lane (under the Trocadero), it had one small cardboard temporary sign that was about 3ft by 3ft for our entrance. Gates were listed to open at 3.30pm, instead they opened at 5.30 so we and several hundreds/thousands stood on the cobblestones for over two hours in the heat, this for seats that were 2900 euros each (and that was of course before the heavens opened and drenched all for 4 hours straight, I get the weather is uncertain, but even if it had been dry watching a TV screen on the other side of the Seine was hardly a good value show, and having a little weather protection or temporary seats that were suitable for someone older than 8 year olds might have been possible at the prices charged). We literally were looking to book flights home on the Saturday morning, having paid over 15,000 euros in accommodation for 2 weeks. Thankfully we stayed for the swimming which was much better organised as were all the events from then on. It was as though volunteers and police were learning on the job. We were actually standing next to a member of PSG football club in the 30 minute wait for the 4 police to check our bags at Stade De France. His comment and this was before the game started, was on the mark, PSG play at this ground every week and the staff are super efficient and know what they are doing and we move in without drama (and I believe him, this is the case at most sporting crowds I have attended). Unfortunately for the games they are not using stadium staff but volunteers who mean well, but have no idea about the ground, many come from outside Paris and are not used to doing customer service, including working a counter for food and drinks (it really is the biggest school fair ever as volunteers (like parents at schools are used instead of trained workers). As I said we loved our experience and we love Paris and visit often, but for the money the organisation at some but not all events was substandard for the prices charged. By the second week at the athletics at the Stadium it was all very smooth, and we have amazing shots from multiple nights..... At the opening ceremony many people left part the way through, and a quote I loved from some people in front of us at the end...... Memories are made of these type of experiences (and they did not mean it in a good way).

Look, my understanding is that Shelley Ann and Sha’Carri lost an hour off of their pre-race preparation and they were no doubt exasperated with the unnecessary officious denial of entry into the stadium via the entrance they were told to use and had used before. They spent that hour pleading their case without success and then walking half way around the stadium. I don’t know how long they had remaining before their race or if it was sufficient or not. Shelley Ann had been nursing an injury that had kept her out for most of the season. So, if she wasn’t happy with her truncated pre-race preparation, I can see her deciding there was no point in running if there was a chance would run poorly or re-injure herself, or both. Sha’Carri was not in the same situation being much younger and not nursing an injury. She would need less time to warm-up and she would be less likely to run poorly or injure herself. Although Sha’Carri did run, many thought she did not run up to her expectations. I remember thinking that Sha’Carri seemed oddly pleased with her race and her silver medal. That would make sense if she felt her pre-race preparation was compromised and she had still run very well and came away without an injury.
@Marine-el2sx
@Marine-el2sx Ай бұрын
That false. SAF and Sha'carrie private car was denied because of a rule change. They took the pedestrian entry which is a 10 min walk maximum. If you were at the Stade de France in Paris the warmed up area and the Stadium are stuck together. And if you know track there is something called the call room where athlete have to present themselve at leat 45 min before the race. Most of the time athlete come to the stadium 3 to 4 hours BEFORE the call room. Ans yes I was at the Olympic and yes other athlete confirmed this too on instagram. They just walk and took the pedestrian entry.

@@G.Orwell1984-q8i yes people have been spreading false informations since the beginning. People that clearly never done track and just wanted to bash Paris 2024. I can’t tell you how late she arrived at the warmup area per her schedule but her team went out and said that she had a decent warmup but injured herself. That’s it. They didn’t give us more information and SAF or Sha’carrie didn’t comment on the incident. Jamaica and the US Federation are the two most powerful forces in track & field if something really happened you can be sure there would have been some action behind the scenes. And SAF would have been allowed to run the semis by herself. It’s common in track. If none of that happened this means she really injured herself. That’s my take on it.

LOL, you know I love you already, but since Paris, I totally thought of all kinds of conspiracy theories, and I’m not much of a CT’ist at all! Notice lots of folks are being extremely silent about a lot of things, and one of the most silent is ShaCarri. Everyone keeps thinking ShaCarri lacks confidence all of a sudden (ShaCarri…lacking actual confidence? LOL, pay attention), but I think ShaCarri has lots going on behind the scenes and she’s working hard to keep her mouth closed, so she’s verrry somber looking lately. We all know folks like ShaCarri wears their heart on their sleeves, so most of the time, folks like that show what they’re really feeling. Shelly always has a game face, Jacko has a great one, and even Elaine has a that face! So, it’s hard to say what’s going on, but I pray the Jamaican ladies are involved in something weird this year, and will be back and normal next year. I hope my girl Shelly runs again also!

The reality is that the France Olympics were a complete joke in some ways. Athletes staying in the village stayed in rooms that were dumps and that didn't even have air conditioning in the middle of the summer. Things like what happened to Shelly-Ann and Sha' Carri happened to several athletes in different sports. If this were in a non-Western country, the media would never have shut up about it! I remember all of the things the media had to say in the Rio Olympics in 2016 and that was a FAR better organized and supported event!

SFP picked up a "niggle" in her reduced time warm up after not getting through the gate. Due to her age and the recovery time for her now, it wasn’t worth risking further injury by racing. Jackson was injured before Paris, but went thinking her recovery would be in time to race so had to pull out. Like Elaine Thompson Herah, she should have pulled out of the team and focused on recovery in time for next season. All of that was clear so there's really no need to speculate and guess. Mentioning drugs is wild too! If the athletes choose not to discuss their conditions or their pay publicly, that's their business!

I really hope the lack of information is due to ongoing legal action. Athletes, nations and their sponsors spend a lot of time and money to achieve the Olympic standard and to compete at the highest level. Trivial rule changes and bad organisation can cause both emotional and financial damages. Even if the Olympics are slated as "amateur" sporting events I think it is time that athletes try their hand in court with some of the ridiculous things that have happened in Paris.

Nobody finds it strange that when Shelly Ann posted about the withdrawal she NEVER mentioned an injury at all, but only to say she was disappointed?
@jhadebredenkamp97

No because you're not an athlete so you don't understand how difficult it is to speak on something that literally depresses you. Especially when so many people, like you, would have not given her the benefit of the doubt and would've speculated doping or saying dumb shit like she's scared of Sha'carri. It's very normal to psychologically want to compartmentalize a stressor. Also, please don't act like she's a normal athlete. You saw all her medals. From ALL the pressure she has to perform and produce a medal while injured, the pressure alone is justifiable enough to want to withdraw. You're very childish for nothinking further than your nose but go on

Shelly has said multiple times that she isn't running the 200 anymore, so why are you asking if we think she will run the 200 next year? The answer is no, because she said it and has backed it up by no longer running it. 🙄

Any actual evidence of Shelly Doping? No, so you can't make that crazy assumption like that and think it's plausible.
@DevLife717
@DevLife717 Ай бұрын
The doping theory doesn’t track with her performance though. Both SFP and SJ were dealing with very obvious injuries. SJ could barely walk normal and while SFP still ran in early rounds you could see she was obviously not at 100%. She barely made the Jamaican team during nationals. So if she was doping her performances at nationals and in the early rounds would have been better.
@GrAdeAjAmAicAn
@GrAdeAjAmAicAn Ай бұрын
The only woman that quit the sport for good when "a new testing method" was enforced was Flo Jo. (doper?). We know Americans like their doping clearly it didn't matter for the Olympics because Erryon Knighton still ran.
@TheWayWithKhuwayne
@TheWayWithKhuwayne Ай бұрын
@@GrAdeAjAmAicAn The reason of Florence retiring is not the same as the speculation in regards to the new doping system implemented in 1989. She had a interview following her retirement talking about her life changes following her Olympics including her fashion line, wanting a family, other commitments etc. Given she had one last competition in Tokyo after the Seoul Olympics, had her daughter in 1990 and actually was planning on having a comeback in the sport for the 1996 Olympics (before her seizures and injuries preventing), I think it's enough to clear her as there no positive tests or evidence striking her as a doper. The same goes for Fraser Pryce, these injuries have just been a pain in the neck for her these past two years.
