By limiting yourself to one tile, your city is almost as small as the ones in the last simcity!
@matsv201
@matsv201 8 ай бұрын
Sc2013 was 256x256 cells large, CS1 was 240x240 cells large and cs2 is about 75x75 cells large. I have noot been able to confirm this but what I think is that the reason why the tiles are smaller I'm cs1 than in sc2013 is to allow overflow, this way the unit don't lag when they are transfered from tile to tile as they do in sc2013.

These towns remind me of Soviet planned towns near mines or oil wells, Nadym for example. Since there is cold in Siberia, central heating is used, so cities are very densely packed to enable shorter heat distribution times. In the steppes/deserts you can also sometimes meet such towns - here water supply is another critical point. Armyansk for example.
@domtoretto4116
@domtoretto4116 7 ай бұрын
That is very interesting! So the entire town runs off a central heating unit/plant?
@liliya_aseeva
@liliya_aseeva 7 ай бұрын
@@domtoretto4116 Of course. Most Soviet cities have a multi-story central part which has several heating stations distributed evenly across the city each serving about 10-50 houses. If a city has a private sector of one-story houses, they usually have their own gas or electric heating. Most central boiling stations provide both hot water and heating water heated in one place. Most of them use gas, but sometimes more exotic options are available (such as oil, fuel oil, long pipeline to a nuclear station in a city which has one and so on). Each month you receive a receipt which you need to pay, for 20 sq.m. I usually pay $30 per month for both heating and hot water.
@CATASTEROID934
@CATASTEROID934 7 ай бұрын
@@domtoretto4116 When combined heat and power is available and conveniently located it's sometimes used, in some rare cases you have combined heat, power and desalination all served by the same plant. In areas where the ground is permafrost the pipelines have to be built above the ground as it would soften and become unstable if it melted, typically in that case the buildings are built so the ground floor is sat above a largely empty unsealed space where the heating lines are held above the ground to prevent that melting and the building sinking.
@RaXXha
@RaXXha 7 ай бұрын
@@domtoretto4116 So called "heat and power plants" are quite common in Scandinavia as well, the waste heat that is left over when generating electricity is distributed across the city to heat homes. Heat that would otherwise be completely wasted.

@@RaXXhait's amazing how differently we can build for arctic environments compared to even the northern US which while cold still has decentralized infrastructure.

Here's a tip for anyone that hasn't tried it. It seems you can max out the parking fee to 50 and make some money since they don't seem affected by it. This also works for parking lots and garages. And if you put the large pedestrian ways on your roads they won't have anywhere else to park. Step 1: Set parking fees and parking lot prices to max Step 2: Remove all parking lanes from your roads with the large pedestrian lanes Step 3: Profit

you just should do this challenge right. If you do 6x6 high density buildings you will get more people in per square and if you would let the game open at night or when you do something else the demand for high density housing and commercial will rise you can force people to walk by building the pedestrian walking street. only commercial (and industry) need streets with cars Sorry for my bad english but thats the way to do it better

"Noise pollution" always made me laugh. I sleep like a rock and if I'm home, I'm either watching TV during dinner, during which I control the volume so I can drown out anything, or I'm gaming and my headset does the same, so I genuinely don't understand unless the train or something physically moves your house like my brother's old apartment where he couldn't use shelves because the vibration from the train made all shelves useless.

Love this type of challenge! I'm up for more challenges or continuing this town 1 tile at a time with a pop goal for each step and keeping each tile not directly connected via edges. It could be like hunger games districts lol Although i really wish the devs thought of European style as more than a reskin because our buildings are more compact too it's important at scale!
