Kill the background electronic "music". So annoying I stopped watching.

Bought a pair of Tribes yesterday, got a chance to play them today and they are excellent!

I liked the review but I stopped it because of the aggressive background music. What's the point in an hifi speaker review?
@GramophoneMD2 жыл бұрын
Thankfully that is no longer an issue. Newer videos are much cleaner.

Going to check out some Forests and Tribes tomorrow as well as PMC Fact 3 speakers. Will they pair well with my Bryston 4B SST and Audio Research SP14 pre? Thanks for the excellent review!

Did you end up sticking with your amplification?

These are awesome speakers ,I demoed them a while back but ended up buying the forest signatures. You can’t go wrong with either one!

Wow, I can't imagine how wonderful that must sound. Good for you. I just ordered these speakers online. They get shipped out tomorrow. I am very anxious to hear them. I am going to pair it with my Parasound Halo A52+ 5 amplifier & an Outlaw Audio preamp/processor. I think it will sound great. .....fingers crossed anyway!

I like Totem, but these sound small. Yes they are impressive "for their size" but to gush ... well, then why would they even offer the Metal? Because they needed a full size sound in the line.

Funny I went there and they bashed totem and was pushing Sonus Faber. Nothing wrong with Sonus Faber. Just though that was odd.
@GramophoneMD Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure who would've bashed Totem as it is the speaker most owned by Gramophone employees. Regardless the Tribe towers especially are straight up awesome, now SF is a fantastic product too, we really love them both, they are probably the second most owned by us. There is certainly no need to demean one for the other, they both have their hard earned merits that don't need any help to stand out all on their own.

Is there a big difference between the floor standing version vs the on-wall variant? Tribe 3 or 5? I’m assuming imaging is worse for on-wall?
@GramophoneMD2 жыл бұрын
Not really! The Tribes sound shockingly good for on wall speakers. They still surprise me sometimes even to this day. The Tribe V is actually the best one of the bunch. Better tweeter with a little more detail, more of those fantastic torrent woofers, and more output.

There are 2 types of binding posts plates for tribe tower, one is plastic insert, the other is flushed metal plate. Wondering which one is later version?

Metal plate is current.

Would a pair of subs be necessary? I'm thinking they take them up a notch
@GramophoneMD2 жыл бұрын
I'll never tell anyone to not add subs to anything. The answer is always add subs.

Very interesting that the woofers are not flush mounted.
@GramophoneMD9 ай бұрын
Thanks HiFi Man, you are correct that while the front baffle is well done, the woofers aren't 100% flush. That may have to do with the depth of the Torrent drivers, and the compact dimensions of this cabinet. It is really stunning to hear how good the bass is from this slim, lifestyle type cabinet

The Satin version has a different connector section, does this give a different sound result?

It does not.

I run my new Tribes with a refurbished Audio Research SP14 pre and a refurbished by the Bryston factory Bryston 4B SST pro. I`m finding the bass quite nice and tight but find the highs a little bright. What integrated amp would you recommend for the Tribes?
@GramophoneMD Жыл бұрын
That's one heck of a stack you got there as it is, but to answer your question I find that Totem pairs nicely with Marantz, Classe, HiFi Rose, AudioControl (for theater use), or most tube amps.

Bryston....notoriously crispy.

I just ordered a pair of these speakers. My listening area/ livingroom has a wooden floor & thick Jute rug. The speakers will be standing on the wooden floor near about a foot out from the back wall. Given this scenario, is it best to use the feet with these speakers or not??
@GramophoneMD2 жыл бұрын
Always use the feet.
@davidstein91292 жыл бұрын
Yes, I will use the feet. My wooden floor where the speakers will be places is slightly uneven but it should be no big deal in terms of affecting the overall sound of the speakers.
@davidstein91292 жыл бұрын
* HI Luke, Do you or anyone else watching this great video known if the Totem Tribe Towers will integrate well with the Model One Signature center channel speaker and Model One bookshelf speakers in a suround sound home setup? I have read several times online that every Totem speaker line is designed to sound differently from each other.
@GramophoneMD2 жыл бұрын
Pair the Tribe Towers with a Tribe III on wall just turned on it's side and rotate the tweeter to make a perfectly matching center and add some silicone sticky feet or even iso acoustics feet if not wall mounting. Basically the same speaker in terms of drivers and voicing. Use KIN Solos or KIN Flexes for surrounds or more Tribe III if budget allows.

what minimum size room ??
@GramophoneMD9 ай бұрын
Hi Jean Claude, these work well in a small room, but a larger room will give the bass a little more area in which to operate. There is no recommended room size pe se from Totem , but they include a set-up chart for distance apart from each other, and from the walls, in their well - done owner's manual: totemacoustic.com/pdf/manuals/Totem_UserManual.pdf
