It any of you, camera people, technicians, crew, staff of this Mountreux festival, is reading this right now, the whole world today is forever thankful to you. You did an incredible job! You couldn’t possibly know that this was going to be Jeff’s last concert ever with Toto, and you still did such a professional job, as always, and left us this beautifully footage. Don't pay attention to the people here saying that this was recorded on film. This was shot on analog HDTV, with Sony HDVS cameras (I forgot the exact models, though). Yes, Japan already had a commercial, consumer-ready HDTV system back in the mid-'90s. Before the system was deployed, japanese engineers would perform tests here and there to test aspects of the format. This is one of them, but KZbin channel Reely Interesting has a ton of those early HDTV recordings on his/her channel. Sure, the japanese analog HDTV system (aka MUSE or HiVision) flopped hard even in Japan due to being too expensive even by bubble-economy Japan's standards, but at least we have such awesome footage like these.

Apart from being an outstanding rendition of the song (as always), it's always inspiring to see Mike Porcaro living every note that gets out of his bass guitar! Amazing! I really miss Jeff and Mike! ❤

Exactly. It brings me joy to watch his playing. Even when he’s just sitting on one note, he dumps his whole being into the performance. So glad this is preserved.

These gentlemen are session musicians of the highest caliber, and they would typically nail their parts in 1 or 2 takes in the studio, so it's nothing for them to pull off a flawless live performance time after time! Luke's solo at the end gives me goosebumps every time. Love it!!! BTW, the video & audio quality are amazing for 1991!🙌

@@diecaverna Some of the music (if you can even call it that) is good, but everything else is garbage. The rap now is just mumbling, and it’s all Pop, Rap and Autotune. Not actual musicians playing instruments and singing. It’s just sad where the music industry went. Today, you can sing La La La, put autoune on your voice and become one of the biggest artists. Back then you had to actually know how to play and sing on key. And, it was a helluva a lot of work.

@@nickavenoso7851 To be pro in sports you must be VERY good, to be pro in painting/drawing you must be VERY good, to be pro in music you need just autotune and your laptop. That's so bad, it sucks but it's the reality. You don't need skill, practice and theory anymore to live from music or just to make music. Also, the music industry is not about music anymore, it's about earning money fast and low effort.

@@tiderbean Maybe it was recorded with cameras that use 35mm tapes, like those used in movies, until then it was possible to capture images with a quality equivalent to 90% of 4K, from the 2000s, the negatives of 35mm cameras capture images in the equivalent of 64K. And this has been around since 1895, even though it's over 100 years old, if a tape is well preserved you can recover images with the same quality, I hope I helped !!!

@@tiderbean Starting in the 2000s, professional still-frame cameras began to use light capturers that are capable of generating ultra high-quality images in 64K, of course something that few can have access to since it is something for the film sector and would be a mountain of digital data. , but you can already have an idea of what the future will be like when these products reach the market, for commercial purposes, it is now possible to purchase cameras that provide 12K images for relatively affordable prices!!!
