The only time I ever touched a club members patch was when my two friends that are in a club came to my fathers funeral. They both hugged me so hard that I had no choice but to. They are hard men, but good dudes.

It has never entered my mind to touch a club members patches. I know a few to talk to and on occasion have a pint with but I have just always had this understanding within myself that the patches are in a way sacred so I have no right to touch them. If I was a brother in their club then yeah no problem but I'm not, so I keep my hands to myself. Never even thought to ask about it either so thanks for bringing it up :) Peace

Touching without permission is a good way to windup in the hospital. If it’s your bro’s it’s a non issue. Even the wives and girlfriends are allowed. We’ve memorized each other’s touch. If the wife of a bro spots me in a mall and sneaks up on me and she touches me, I don’t even have to turn around. I know her touch, and I would say, hello Lisa, how’s it going? But if I don’t know you and you touch me, I’ll break all of your fingers. Simply put, the Brothers and their significant other are part of the club. Club = it’s okay to touch or hug. Non club members = bad. Don’t think about it, don’t try it or your day will become very messed up. It’s sort of like you and the word Brother. It pisses you off, but you do explain to the person about the does and donts of using the word Brother. The same goes for touching. If you don’t know us, go away. If you want to talk to someone, stand back and wait until we finish our discussion. We know you are there and no, we’re not blowing you off, somethings are more important than other things. Just wait for your turn.

Actually it's a legit question regardless of how stupid you might think it is, i've seen people get badly bawled out and even hurt for doing that exact thing. Newbies asking questions instead of getting bawled out at or possibly getting bashed is way smarter than not asking. Hi Dibber, I'm always careful with giving friends who wear the 3 piece patch a hug/ embrace as I don't want to unknowingly cause offence to the MC so I errr on the side of caution. Keep well and ride safe xxx

Absolutely agree with airing on the side of caution if you don't have the tight bond, if they don't put their arm around you or hug you, then don't put your arm around them or hug them.

I think if a backpatch club member pulls you in for a hug, then to a degree they're likely gonna expect your hand/arm to touch their patch. You'd likely cause more offence if you stood there rigid, arms at your side, with a terrified look on your face 😆 Going up and slapping one on the back however, I wouldn't do that even to the ones who I do hug out of respect and how it'd look.

As a hangaround for an MC in my town (won't publicly say who), I will say you are absolutely correct on everything you said on this video! I have been around these guys for years because they are good friends of mine. Very rarely do I get to touch their patches, because again, respect for anyone else's property. That only happens when we give each other big hugs or brotherly side hugs that are from the close friend handshakes, if you catch my drift. And over time as I gained their trust, respect, friendship, to love, loyalty, and being treated like family to them, and receiving a nickname for myself from them, I do get called, "brother". And I know that term can vary from different club members to supporters. Some are okay with it, others are not. Those who are, I respect it. Those who aren't, I still respect it. I remember watching your channel for years before I got welcomed into the motorcycle club community. After my first walk-in on an invite to a party and started hanging around times after, they showed me the ropes. And they taught me ALOT! And I still have alot to learn, especially if I decide to get my motorcycle and actually able to join them. Right now, I can't, and I don't want to get ahead of myself like that like other people I knew trying to join either them or other clubs around my area.

Educational video as always Dibber - it’s a bit like hugging someone else’s wife, you don’t just go up to a guy’s wife and wrap your arms around her, but if you’re close friends or family of the guy then it’s usually a friendly gesture to give his wife a quick hug or kiss on the cheek. Just as long as you don’t overdo it like Joe Biden would 😂

If you are giving a good friend you have not seen for a sometime a hug, of course you are going to touch their back. You are not going to put your hand on their arse 😅 If you walk up to someone and hug them when it’s not appropriate, it will probably feel weird. Maybe your feeling bit socially awkward in the group I guess. But I suppose people can be overly familiar and inappropriate, that’s happened to most of us I am sure. Similar to someone calling you brother when you have no shared bond other than riding, and straight away it puts your back up.

Question was from a newbie to the scene that attended their first rally and never been around clubs before. He's seen videos elsewhere on youtube that said to NEVER touch a patch holders patch but like with many that flap their gums about the life on here who have never been in the actual life they didn't mention the exemptions to the rule, he came to me for clarification and it is a legit question to ask if there is confusion regarding this matter, no confusion now thou for him or anyone else that stumbles across videos made by people that don't really have a clue what they're talking about as they've never actually lived it. Just started editing the travel stuff from Malta now, i didn't realize just how much of it there is until i just loaded up the external drive i keep all the raw files on, hundreds and hundreds of gig LOL.
