TouchMix Aux Mixing - Part 4: How to run a subwoofer from an Aux

The QSC TouchMix videos are very well done, and informative. I realized that I needed one of these mixers. I purchased a TM-8 for processing my drumset. It operated for almost a year, but then developed several issues. When powering my TM-8 the headphones had no sound, the four aux outs displayed full red on their outputs. One of the mixer channels was also full red, and so were the two main outs. I had NO efx, comp or eq. Powering the TM-8 off and back on would result in fixing the problem, but not every time. I shipped the mixer back to QSC and the tech said he replaced the SD card. Now it’s STILL doing the same thing! Latest from QSC tech said he’s going to replace the board. Sucks for me. I wonder what the failure rate is on these products.

Brilliant. I’ve always had trouble getting the kick drum to thump w the TM16. This is what I need to do as soon as possible

can you send the stereo out [main out ] to main speakers and have the same mix with the pan etc to come out of aux 1 and 2 as another stereo out to go to another set of speakers or to a stereo recording input ? thanks

Hi You spoke about the keyboard being assigned to the sub. Question though... if the left side of the keys are playing the bass and the right side is playing the piano... would the left bass side be heard from the sub and the right hand on piano be heard from the top cabinet speakers, or would both the left and right side of the keyboard come out of the subwoofer ? Cos that would sound muddy wouldn’t it??

RexyFan the bass speaker will only output the lower notes. And the top speaker will produce the higher notes

Would you have to do any different routing for the main outputs to the PA speakers? We run stereo and our Left and Right Main outputs go to the EV tops...then the EV tops get fed into the sub. Given the scenario in this video, would I have to route the outputs differently to have separate control of the Subs?

hi did you ever work out if it can be done the thing is im try to rout a hardware compressor into my mastering chain ,but I only have a apogee element 24 as a audio interface so I have only 2in /2 out , so was thinking if I could from my DAW to my audio interface then in to the compressor then into the touch mix from the touch mix to the inputs of the audio interface back into logic

This does not work!!!! The aux Pickup point has to be pre fader. If kick drum let's say is in channel 9 you would have to turn up channel 9s fader to feed the aux channel if set for post pickup point but now turning up channel 9s fader would now feed the mains which you didn't want to do.

The crossover should do it's job, but if you're worried about it, you can just deselect Main / LR from the mappings list. Then it would only go to the Aux.
