Epic First-Time Reaction to "O Holy Night" and "Angels We Have Heard on High" by Dan Vasc

In the second song, the languages he’s singing in are Italian, German, Portuguese and English with the chorus in Latin. Background male choir you hear is 60 stacked tracks, each one done by Dan. He did his own drum, bass, electric guitar arrangements, orchestration, mixing and mastering on this song. The last few songs he’s done, Dan has hired a well known pro mastering engineer from Fascination Street Studios in Sweden by the name of Tony Lindgren because Dan wanted the sound quality for his songs to be the best it could be.

I just wish I could hear his lead voice more on the end of that one.

I think he was doing the best he could at the time with the resources that he had…it’s just him and his home computer. His place to record used to be a small room in his house until he moved the filming setup to his garage. He didn’t have a huge professional recording studio or anyone else to do all the behind the scenes stuff. It’s amazing what he’s been able to accomplish, I think. And yes, there is a learning curve over the course of time as he learns his craft and all the nuances of recording and KZbin etc by just grinding and being “young, hungry and scrappy” (Hamilton.) Forgive any imperfections as he learns. There’s a book called The Tipping Point that says it takes about 10,000 hours of work to really master something which translates to around 10 years, give or take, depending on how motivated a person is. We’re seeing the mastery and the epic results now, but he had to start at the beginning and take the first step. And then the next.

Excellent analysis Karen. I’ve always thought the same, how can he produce such pearls being just in his garage by himself, arranging cameras properly for recording, doing the edits and all the needed stuff. He’s so talented that small details don’t make any difference and the final result is always, always splendid, and that’s what matters and deserves our consideration and review.

Victor the Guitar Nerd plays the piano as well as the guitar, drums, etc, in O Holy Night. He did all the instrumentation in this song. And, Dan recorded the chorus parts in Angels We Have Heard on High like he has done in many of his other songs, like Africa and Hallelujah, too. He has been working on the Christmas drop for months and he is fond of the sentiment on the shirt. Yup… us fans are addicted to Dan’s utter passion he brings to his covers. Not only that, but he applies it to attaining his goals as well. The growl in Oh Holy Night is said by some fans to represent the dark in the world (let all within us) being shaken by Christ’s birth. Personally I’ve never in my life heard Oh Holy Night be sung so powerfully and majestically. Dan and Victor were magnificent! Dan commands every traditional Christmas/christian carol/hymn to simply BE triumphant! Unfortunate sound glitch ☹️ his voice is truly powerful in Angels We Have Heard on High. I think that verse was his many times singing it to sound like the chorus but that's why his 1 voice didn't stand out in that part. I think it was for a chorus verse but I'm just guessing ❤

That part of Angels heard on high with the choir effect is many layers of all his voice. He started in Italian, then German, then Portuguese ,( the choir), and then English with the the chorus in Latin. Epic.

Dan is a young man that is happy with his Faith, sings it out Loud and Proud, in O Holy Night he really places emphasis on the words we should all hear .. I doubt Angels whisper, and I'm sure the quake is to remind us that there is a darker side to each of us, until we release it and shout our Praises from the hilltop we are just paying lip service to the Season and not the Reason... Loved the reaction and of course the karaoke at the end

Dan wears that shirt a lot; he either has only one or two shirts or more likely he wears it to emphasize he is a metal singer. Some who enjoy his covers of traditional hymns want him to be a Christian singer and this man is a metal singer down to his bone structure who not incidentally is a Christian. That's the way to sing "Christ is the Lord!" Like an earthquake! These two geniuses! Angels We have Heard on High is in 4 languages. The choir is a choir of Dan; any choir is hard pressed to keep up with this genius. Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noel, Feliz Natal, Feliz Navidad, Buon Natale, Frohe Weihnachten, God Jul! The choir is also Dan recorded in several parts and then joined together and it's intentional to unite his voice with the choir. He sang in 4 languages: Italian, German, BR Portuguese and English. what's good about Dan Vasc is that he also does the back up (choir) since he is versatile singing the 4 key voices: soprano. alto, tenor, bass.he records all voices and altogether plays at a time, based on his other videos, probably inspired by the legendary Enya.

What can any of us say about our Dan .. perfection doesn't even touch it. And Victor.. such a blessing as well.The skill between the two of them is off the charts. I think, might be wrong, but the choir, which is all of his voice layers for the Portuguese and English verses, are meant to sound that way. Like he is a part of, not separate, from singing our praises to God. Anyway that's my take on it. It all works so beautifully. I wish you both a happy and prosperous 2024! ❤
