Added note - he's had ten years of formal vocal lessons, so he knows how to care for his voice. The posture (tension) is just for show, for "more power so we can have ourselves an EPIC day!" Plus Dan is totally into physical fitness.

Dan always gives his other singers credit in the video descrlptions. If he doesn't mention anyone else singing then it's just all him layered. You should listen to him do quite a respectful rendition of the Halelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah!!! He IS the whole choir singing it! His Dan choir is all in little boxes singing it.

He has a well tuned diaphragm which allows him to finish the ending in one breath. Breathing through your diaphragm allows one to do the long breath parts.

I drive from coastal MS to Vegas twice a year to see my son and his family (really my grandchildren 😂) and this summer after hearing this version i FELT these verses driving through the mountains and had to Bluetooth this song 50 times and belt it out as i drove thru the plains and mountains!! About your comment towards the end, I’m also a singer myself and I’ve seen a few videos of Dan singing when he’s not in “performance mode”. In all of those videos, he was totally relaxed and there was no tension whatsoever. What he’s doing in his main videos is mainly for performance and I think he’s concentrating on grounding his breath support to the floor. Sometimes I’ll do a similar thing once in a while when I’m performing, but it’s particularly when my adrenaline gets going and I need extra breath support. I’m also a big stickler when it comes to technique and I take extremely good care of my voice.

Dan has done a great deal of vocal training, so don’t worry too much. Even in relaxed videos, his posture is outstanding; I think it’s mostly just his natural stance.

Nothing like a Dan cover to make a merry Christmas. I love what he does with this song. Thanks for another knowledgeable reaction! I don't think (fingers crossed) that we need to worry about Dan's posture. Did you know that he used to give voice lessons himself? I think he's very self-aware on that score. BYW, he's meticulous about giving credit to anyone who works with him - a relic of his days as an exploited and uncredited session singer, I suspect. From the description on this video: "Drum, bass, electric guitar arrangements, orchestration, mixing and mastering by yours truly. Electric guitars recorded by Gabriel Belozi. Gran finale drum improvisation by Giovanni Rezende. My gratitude to David Foster and Andrea Bocelli for the inspiration."" (Gabriel is the guitarist of Dan's band Fearless, and Gio is the drummer. The fourth member is Dan's brother Davi on bass. They're all terrific musicians. I think you reacted to their epic (😊) performance of "Dawn of Victory," with Fabio Leone, in Dan's garage. All the vocal arrangements are always his, and you're right, he often lets certain accompanists create their own parts. Looking forward to more Dan in 2024! I don't think you have to worry about the tension, Dan knows very well how to protect his voice and the triumphant pose is just part of the visuals of the song.

It must be such a pleasure for a vocal expert like you to watch and analyze a guy like Dan with the voice he has. About the tension, what i see is yes, he uses tension in his body to carry the power through to his voice, but when you then watch his vocal apparatus where it really matters, espacially the muscles in the throatarea, the larynx and jaws, there is very very rarely any tension no matter what he's doing with his voice, even though it's evident that he is actually singing, and not just lipsynching. And as you say, Dan is not in trouble at all putting this kind of power out - he takes extremely good care of his voice and knows exactly what he's doing. And yes, pretty much everything he does gesturewise is for show, due to the fact that he's a performer as much as he's a singer.

Hello Again Ken! You always have unique reactions to Dan Vasc but, I think we all do because Dan is a completely unique artist!! His success speaks for itself. Sidenote, I love your tie-- all signs of Christmas are welcome on my phone! Love that you are so concerned about Dan's voice. I however, have every confidence that he has that completely under control. He has an E Book you would enjoy on the best ways for singers to care for their voices. Victor the Guitar Nerd takes care of any instrumental arrangements, mixing, etc specifically for the instruments that he’s playing, but the rest is Dan unless otherwise credited. All his most recent videos, he’s hired a professional to do the final polish of mixing or mastering or whatever for sound quality.
