I noticed this too on someone else's guide and I was like " they showed you how to fight this with geo traveler and guess what, Geo traveller can get up there all on their own too." I actually went in blind with my Ganyu melt team, no Natlan characters, and actually found a use for Zhongli's pillar.

Thanks a lot for the video because I was frowning while doing this boss and about needing to use Natlan characters because I only have Kachina and wasn't sure how to even do this simple mechanic with other characters until I saw the footage which makes me feel dumbfounded.

Gacha players when their devs gets the slightest criticism: 17 out 93 characters, almost half of which awkwardly clips onto the pillar as it wasn't modeled properly, guess you don't have to use anything huh? good job.

Aight, i wanted to prepare materials while primo gathering to pull for Xilonen but since i dont have any of those chaaracters i suppose i have to start leveling my geo-Traveler who's still stuck on lv20 😢

If you’re only going to use GeoTraveler for the rock, if you have a shielder just pop a shield before using her rocks :) But if you walk into Natlan you also get Kachina for free, and if you already pulled Xilonen, do her trial for a free Lv.40/40

killed this thing many times for xilonen and until the current event with this boss on it on the hardest difficulty i didnt know it spawned 2 pilars, had to search how to destroy it because it recieved no dmg lmao.

I scored 2:29 on the hardest difficulty with a Bennett/Furina/Xilonen/Itto team. Xilonen gave me a heart attack as she missed the jump to the other pillar

Unless you enter the DPS phase, it has a blanket 60% Resistance to all attacks.

This event is such a middle finger to new players is beyond unfunny. Genshin devs apparently don't want new people to play this game will go out of their way to design event that will push them off. Thank Genshin devs... you're doing them a favor.

Battle events usually are pretty BS if you select anything past the middling difficulty, the only silver lining is that the important rewards like Primogems aren't locked behind the much harder difficulty, they learned from their mistakes from 1.X, where basically like only 5% of the playerbase if not even less couldn't even properly fight the bosses lol. I do worry about the people who don't have Kachina or any unit, like you said, "new players," so I do agree with you there. I'm wondering if I should use my evening and make a guide for every boss in this event, because it seems like a lot of people are struggling.

i mean ruin serpent IS the worst boss in the game tho

It really isn’t, Ruin Serpent at most will have you considering building off-field units like Yae or Fischl and making you learn how to actually time your bursts/learn a boss pattern, but it isn’t immune to anything, and doesn’t force you to use certain units. Ruin Serpent filters people who only know how to play the game 1 way then complain when they have to learn how to actually adapt to an enemy The trophy for worst boss goes to Wolflord. It ACTUALLY element-checks AND unit-checks you (Geo REQUIREMENT), half of the roster can’t hit it at all when it’s flying up in the air while it’s firing projectiles down on you, and it wastes a TON of time as it’s flying, or when it turns into a tornado and you’re forced to just sprint around for 10-15 seconds. We’re just lucky it’s never appeared as a final 12-3 boss.

@@toufusoup You mean the game that bends over backward threefold to force offensive play and locks all defensive options begin specific characters, because the devs saw the concept of ACTUALLY DODGING as too complex before they even started designing the game. Gee I wonder why those of us used to a game actually giving you sensible tools to use would NOT want to waste our lives trying the learn 200 team comps because the devs are too fucking cheat to solve boss mechanics any other way. Pull your head of the Genshin's dev team's assess and realize you are defending a defective, moronic combat system designed to FORCE people into the gacha unless they want to spend 14 hours a day on bashing their heads against a wall over braindead glitchy combat. You have all day to spend on figuring out how each character can be used to glitch your way through fights, You don't have a day job or other hobbies to spend time on. Good for you (not really, get a life) but most of us live in reality where spending more than a couple of hours on this showcase of HOW NOT TO MAKE A GAME is a massive waste of time.

@@RoninBlackwing I work part time in a hospital lab wing while currently studying for my MLT license, I think you should probably stop making random hot-headed assumptions and calm down lol. I'm unsure what you mean by "actually dodging" because almost every attack in this game can be i-Framed minus a few attacks. I'm not defending the devs as hard as you may be thinking, the purpose of this video was just to use the resources I personally have to show everyone else alternatives, if they happened to be stuck or out of ideas The main complaint that a lot of people said in the original F2P guide video is that it was either "unclimbable" (which was untrue, Kachina was given to you for free and purpose-made for this boss, and so was GeoTraveler), and or that they're trying to sell Natlan characters (which I felt was semi-untrue AT THE TIME, since you didn't have to pay a cent for Kachina or GeoTraveler, BUT my opinion has changed with the most recent Citlali boss, and hilariously, the same people hating THIS boss are the ones defending Hoyo this time on THAT boss, I can't win lol) When I was talking about Ruin Serpent as an Abyss boss, people at the time genuinely didn't understand that the boss's attacks and movement patterns were exceptionally well telegraphed and it had a set pattern in Abyss, they usually just brute-force the boss in the overworld and don't pay attention at all to it. They were upset that they couldn't use their Raiden teams or whatever, when in reality, they most definitely could, they were just bad and couldn't time their attacks properly. People are bad at voicing their frustrations when they have to whip out a unit that the game recommends them use. The boss having a gimmick you have to get around by using a unit you may or may not want to use is a bit annoying. But I do think people are blowing it out of proportion a tad considering you’re given two tools for free that can help aid in fighting the boss lol
