Touge Time Trials S2 Rd.1 Miata ND (Kunos) @ EK Happogahara Inbound! P3 Finish!

A lot of mistakes in all the runs I did primarily around the halfway point in the hairpins. Can be upwards of .800th up on delta and lose it all because of bad lines at the halfway point. 1st half of the map I felt pretty confident in although here in this vid not the absolute best example of maintaining momentum but its what I had before I decided that God didn't want me to go sub 4.12 in this thing :( fucked up hard towards the end almost had 4.11 in the bag!
P3 Finish w/ 4.12.412 (stracker valid, i think this lap didn't count either cuz i bottom'd out too hard somewhere, or most likely I didn't do a outlap and this technically is the outlap)

jeebus dude nice run! I was stuck at 4:22.598, only 5 hundredths from getting a point 😞 how'd you get the rear to slide around the corners like that? handbrake? I def lost a lot of time in the tighter corners

yea tapping handbrake but you can overcook it very easily in this car, other corners like early on you can just slightly tap the brake and the car will rotate in like at 0:27 immediately after like at 0:29 you can throttle oversteer and lift off prior to exit to stabilize the car before getting back on throttle.

@@purplejw yea when, where and how long you use that handbrake makes or breaks a lot of corners for this combo especially at those damn hairpins halfway into the touge

Do you brake with your left foot at all or are you strictly using it for the clutch? I don't have an H pattern shifter, so it's been a bit easier for me to learn left foot braking since I'm using paddles and auto clutch/auto blip. Just trying to figure out if left foot braking is actually still advantageous when driving with an h pattern shifter and clutch.

i never left foot brake so my left is solely for clutch operation, though maybe i should start learning to left foot brake by now 🤔

@@PM_DraKKar I kinda picked it up in dirt rally, and it's occasionally useful. But, I'm using paddles and auto clutch/blip in AC. Not sure if it's viable with a true manual.

left foot braking in a H shifter does yield some more time when implemented properly, you have to consider the gearing relationship on track at specific sections to be able to use left foot braking without having to worry about upshifting/downshifting after you left foot brake imo for example T1 and T2 at PK Akina in a NA miata are left foot braking corners in 3rd gear i believe? it saved me abit of time when i used left foot braking properly
