Moo and Nando, great job catching the limit of lings.

I was there on Friday, recognized the car. I was fishing inside the cove off the rocks, glad you did well! I didn’t stay too long no action for me! 🤙🏼

Yeah the bite was slow then it got slower as the red tide moved in.

Very nice lings!! And you caught your gaff back again!! Red tides seem to be more intermittently, common and in many more coastal waters

Must have floating gaff Haha. I think warm water with 🌞 light is big contributor of the red tide.

Now that's making the best of a slow day. I have to find a way to taste some of those fish.

I was at SC on Monday (last day!) and had no joy except 10+ mackerel and handful of smelt but I thought way to big to use as bait. They were huge!

Big bait, big fish. Haha

Quick story. Fishing near elephant rock on Aug 1st a few yrs back on sea angler we couldnt get through the schools of mackerel with our white flies to get rock cod we filled 2 tubs in no time. I set 1 up (about 12-14" on a trap rig. These were fresh dead mackerel plenty of scent & fear pheromones. Got smashed b4 even hitting bottom. Caught 9 lings that day & another 9 simply snapped my line like nothing. BIG fish that bent my phenix 20-60 lb rod like it was a toy. If you are lucky enough to catch fresh useable oily fish rig em up & get them down there. That was my best day ever on lings.

Nice catch - question can you use sabiki rod in water for bait while you also have a line in for lingcod?
@MooMooOutdoors2 ай бұрын
Thanks. No you cannot since rockfish has 2 hook restriction. When my other line was in the water, there was no sabiki on it but just a descender. When I had sabiki on it, it was out of the water.

No more branson bait?
@MooMooOutdoors2 ай бұрын
Branson Bait is still my favorite swimbait and have them as a backup. It just feels good to catch fish with the bait I caught myself.

Man, I cringed when you dragged the 480 across the rocks... lol
@MooMooOutdoors2 ай бұрын
😂 there are very smooth rounded rocks. I wouldn't have dragged my kayak if they are pointy and abrasive. I like my kayak too much.
