Great idea to have a section for questions, there're so many things non-native speakers can't grasp that easily, as it happens for example with semantic subtleties or certain collocations. Thanks so much, Dan! We love youuu!!!

Learning foreign language is a tough task especially when you live in a country where its people don't speak it. For me I have been focusing on English for one year beside knowing the basics since I was in school. The problem is when I don't exercise for one week I feel like forgetting so many phrases and words. I always watch your channel to be in touch with English and I like your programs all, the staff is increadablely amazing, so thanks so much for keeping us motivated.

Mr. Habibie had a tough vision to his home country since he had made some changes on the country's aeroplane technologies. I have drawn some rough paintings of the Indonesian beautiful animals. The city council has amended a law that had some stiff punishments.

What are the different meanings if we use these 3 words to describe personality, sir?

Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ Awesome , thanks a lot Is stiff and stubborn have the same meaning ? 🤔
@bbclearningenglish
@bbclearningenglish 5 жыл бұрын
Hi. Not quite. Stiff means that something is not easily bent and is usually used to refer to physical properties. "I have a stiff neck" or "her fingers feel stiff in the morning". To be stubborn means to be be unwilling to change position on something. It is usually used to refer to someone's personality - "She is very stubborn. She never changes her mind" or it can used to refer to something that refuses to move - "These stains are very stubborn. I've washed this shirt 3 times and they still won't come out". OK. Does that help at all?

I have a query. Could we use plural forms of nouns while using them as adjectives. As I have heard that under no circumstances would we use plural forms as adjectives. Having said that at the very beginning of this video, there is a slide at the bottom where it is written "learner's questions playlist". Why is it so?? As per me it should have been question. Shouldn't it?
@teacherjeffandjohnny3735
@teacherjeffandjohnny3735 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Saba, I hope I understand your question correctly. Do you think the slide should read “Learner’s Question playlist” ? Note this is just the name/ title of a playlist, there are no words being used as adjectives here. Imagine you had a playlist full of cat videos. The slide might read “Saba’s Cats playlist “ To answer your first question...in most cases plural forms of nouns are not used as adjectives. There are some though, look up attributive nouns for more info. Example - race car - race is a singular noun used as an adjective sports car - sports is a plural noun used as an adjective

Learners is plural that’s why questions must be plural too learners have many questions it doesn’t matter if it is used as adjective

What about hard?
@bbclearningenglish
@bbclearningenglish 5 жыл бұрын
Hard can mean 'difficult' or 'firm'. "That exam was very hard" - it was difficult. "Diamonds are extremely hard" - diamonds are firm, strong and difficult to break. Hope that helps. 🙂
