Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith - Extra Stage (No Commentary)

And now for the Extra Stage for this game. It poses a significant challenge like other ones before it but in all reality I don't find this stage too awful difficult. Really the biggest issue is you need to know what you're getting into more so than any boss before this (more on that later). As for the stage itself there's one part that can trip you up but the rest is easily avoidable.
Kanako isn't too bad as a mid boss but does pose a significant threat. Both her first and last spell can really throw you off with how condensed and random the bullet patterns are there.
Now as for Suwako, the theme of this boss is purely memorization. If I had to relate it to her like I've done other bosses I view it as that same way one would memorize countless complex rituals for worshiping a God. Well in here you absolutely have to memorize what Suwako throws at you. If you just try dodging things as you would normally chances are you'll get boxed in a corner and blasted. Perhaps Imperishable Night and Concealed the Conclusion spoiled me but personally I think Suwako would have been much easier if I had spell card practice back so I could figure out how to dodge what she's throwing at me.

It doesn't appear in that she talks to you, however she has one spell card on Hard or Lunatic where that portrait will show up in the backgroud for a moment

MegamanOmega184 Oh okay. That makes sense. But it's strange because Momiji (I probably spelled it wrong) doesn't have one, and Shizuna is even more inconsequential than her since she is a stage 1 miniboss so I dunno.

It is strange, but I dare say that Shizuha's the only mid-boss only character to get a portrait as well... Daiyousei, Koakuma, Lily, Momiji, and Kisume Though I suppose the exception is Tewi, considering she went from simple mid-boss to playable character in one game for some reason...

MegamanOmega184 she pretty much became a fan-favorite, to the point that the mangas ("Inaba of the Earth and Inaba of the Moon") actually feature her as a main character (alongside the Eientei crew). Lily also got a bit of attention, like how she's sort of a miniboss thingy in PoFV, and she actually does get semi-major roles in the mangas, so who knows?

Sorry to comment twice, but... I personally think this is one of my favorites, if not my favorite, Touhou game. It may be ball-busting difficult at some points (I'm looking at you Momizi and midboss Hina), but the game is very simple for a 1cc, as score can rack up like crazy if you play like a madman. I really appreciate this series and this game. As for next project? One, finals have taken my time ;-; And two, I haven't beaten a fighting game except Hopeless Masquerade. For some reason I can't grasp the fighting games >.> Maybe I'll learn something from this next playthrough :)

I usually don't bomb for a couple reasons. First is that I don't like watching videos where someone's bomb spamming to get through spells so I didn't want to make videos doing that. If I'm watching your video to figure out how to beat something "just press x" is not the answer I came to get, Secondly I'm kinda stubborn when it comes to dodging. Usually when I see something coming my way I'm convinced I can just barely make it, but still make it... and then end up dying. Generally the only times I bomb are when I get a moment to clearly see my options and know for sure I'm not making it out of there alive.

There is no saving. The challenge of Touhou is that you have to beat all six stages in one go. Sure, it is possible to use continues in the main game, however that gives you the Bad Ending and doesn't unlock the Extra Stage. To to actually beat the game you need to do it all in one go without using any continues.

Kinda. See I don't bomb that often for two reasons. Firstly it's because I find bombing through spells to be boring to watch. It doesn't tell the audience anything if I have to fill the screen with master spark to end the spell. However the more important reason that came before I even started recording is because I only bomb if I expect to die. And I rarely expect to die. No matter how dismal it may look my first thought is always "If I can just make it to that gap I can make it!". Which is why you didn't see me bomb at the end of "Suwa War - Native Myth vs Central Myth". I probably should have, but I was convinced I could still make that. However this only happens on high speed moments when quick thinking is involved. If the bullets are moving slow enough and I can clearly see there's no escape I won't hesitate to bomb. Such as when I realized I screwed up when taking on "Jade of the Horrid River".

+andyrrgrstevie Oh I did know about it (I wanted to add in a clip of me using it at the end but my old software wouldn't let me...) and while funny and effective I felt it was a little too cheap to use here considering I like showing HOW to beat bosses. Considering it made most spells end in seconds...

I knew about the little bug, actually wanted to show it off in the Stage 1 video, but couldn't cause my video editing software didn't want to. I opted not to use it anywhere cause it just makes things WAY too easy, some bosses even losing before their attacks can reach me. Ultimately I figured it wouldn't be a good idea if, a channel who's here to teach you how to beat these games gives the answer of "use this game breaking glitch to win" And what spell are you talking about. Cause none of Suwako's spells look like it'd be a good idea to stay behind her.
