Touhou 8: Imperishable Night - Stage 5 (New Commentary Version)

Stage 5 comes at you fast and furious right off the bat almost as soon as you start setting a pretty dangerous tone for the rest of the stage. However the enemy types while tough aren't mixed up that much, if you can dodge what is thrown at you in the first 30 seconds you can beat the stage.
Tewi is interesting but while playing as Marisa pretty unremarkable, Malice Cannon is your friend. She attacks mainly with criss-crossing bullets however she stays mostly still and with how powerful the Malice Cannon is you really should just have to dodge one or two attacks before the fight ends.
And then there's Reisen...Just throwing this out there but I'm pretty sure it's this boss fight alone that made me start needing to wear glasses...Her gimmick is hard to describe but it's all around a tricky one forcing you to really dart your eyes about the screen begging for a safe spot in seconds. She makes her bullets temporarily intangible and blurry while splitting them apart. Strangely though she only uses four spell cards, one less than the stage 4 boss but their difficulty more than makes up for it.

Oh hey, the stage that introduced me to the entire series! I'm still not sure how that happened, or why this stage's theme sticks out to me as the main theme of the series for some reason (ignoring the one that gets remixed for a LOT of the title screens...). Or why I said "Raizen" instead of "Reisen" for over two years after actually getting into Touhou.

Seeing Marisa's dialogue in this game really reminds me of her impulsive lying lol Reisen on Easy is easy for me, but she's impossible in Normal. It's where I realized I'll almost always be an Easy mode player xD

Holy fuck, Tewi is absolutely fucking annoying to deal with as the Boundary Team. Also it was definitely thanks to this video that I got good at fighting Reisen. Idling Wave is the only spell of hers I have trouble with. (Not counting Last Spell) Definitely third easiest stage 5 boss for me, Sanae and Futo were even easier. (Speaking of which, I did a legit 1cc of MoF with ReimuB yesterday.)

However, Remilia completely breaks Reisen

Isn't it lovely that Eirin is implied to be the one that invented magic in this setting? After all she is (probably) the shinto god Omoikane. As for the stage itself, it's fun, nice but I still hate how Tewi's first attack is harder than her second attack. As for Reisen, I dislike that her non-spells are cheap shots so you can't collect any items before she starts shooting at you. For cards, Mind Shaker can be beaten with Reikari or SakuRemi by locking on Ran/Remilia's bats in front of Reisen and dodging to the side. I noticed Visionary Tuning has Reisen usually moving to the biggest gaps, so there's that. I always panic on Idling Wave and Invisible Full Moon can also be beaten if you focus on staying at/slightly below the spell circle if you're like me and is a baboon that can't count bullets. I also love that when selecting the ending on Ghost Team both options are "Go where Lady Yuyuko says". Poor Youmu

Eh...I honestly don't think Reisen is as hard as Reimu/Marisa. But that might be because her gimmick doesn't actually confuse me that much. Her third nonspell is the only one that gives me significant trouble, and the same goes for her third spell. Probably because the other ones are more about moving with the waves than dodging per se.
