That symbol is controversial actually, some say the correct symbol for medicine is the Rod of Asclepius, which has only one snake and no wings, as the caduceus is the traditional symbol of Hermes which has no relation to medicine where as the Greek god Asclepius is a deity associated with healing and medicine. still, a nice idea and beautiful work regardless.

Reconsider this winter whether you want lights under the cabinets. You have light behind you while you work at the sink or the stove, and your tall frame will cast a shadow. In the summer or during very bright days, maybe it isn't too dark to work, but in the winter or with very overcast days, you may like more light better. Just something to keep in mind as you live there every day. It is a charming cottage and beautiful!! Well done!!

Yes! Hidden lighting can be so subtle because it disappears and therefore almost seems natural. If he wants he could keep the switching separate so he can choose to use one or the other or both like you said.

Seriously, that cottage is just about perfection!! The colors, furnishings and accessories are all perfect choices. The art is amazing too. I love the unexpected details such as the custom delft tiles and the custom treatment of the stairway. I am quite small is stature, so the proportions of the cottage seem to be perfection also

Absolutely wonderful! 😍 So cozy and full of personality. The stairs and railings turned out magnificent. Looks like it’s been there for a hundred years, but clean and well maintained. That’s difficult to achieve. Also love the doors to the toilet and shower spaces downstairs, so the gardeners or other guests don’t get “accidental” views. 😂 So happy that you included the drone footage. Your trees and forest look very healthy. The more I see your style, I think that you might enjoy a book that is one of my favorites. It’s called “The Art of Outdoor Living” by Scott Shrader, with a foreword by the French architect and designer Jean-Louis Deniot, whose Los Angeles garden was designed by Shrader. The plants are clearly California, but the way he thinks about outdoor spaces feels like something you would enjoy. He does a great job harmonizing old and new. Lovely result of an amazing restoriation. The tension between preservation and livability must be extreme. In the US, building codes won’t let you have a bedroom unless there’s an accessible window, for fire escape. Even basements need an escapable window foe underground bedrooms. Old structures are grandfathered in, so proably would be an “interesting” discussion with the local building authorities.
