Worked on this line for 18 months…..quite an interesting experience..

Excellent Video Mr. Tim! I wish I could find out in advance when you plan to ride the Warminster Line on SEPTA again.

Hey, I was on the Hudson Bergen light rail on the same day as you were to enjoy the free fare this week. And it was my first time riding, too! Rode from the Hoboken Terminal south to Marin, then north to Second then south again to Exchange. The light rail and all the waterfront development is fantastic! I was a city planner in Hoboken and JC 1987-1989, then to NYC planning for 29 years. Finally got back to ride the light rail. A great experience… Thecwhat a treat to fimd your video. Thank you 🎉

Tim, love to see the old CNJ Main get some acknowledgement. It's too bad the bridge was demolished otherwise the connectivity to the rest of the rail system would be fantastic!

Great Video. I used to ride the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail in and out of Bergenline Avenue to Jersey Avenue (HBLR). And now, sometimes I take the HBLR from Hoboken to Newport for Sarku Japan. Now since 2014, I really missed the sound of Gong Bells like other trolleys have, and also the one, the only Nathan P12L Airhorn.

That was my plan this week to ride the NJT to Suffern but I ended up taking the LIRR to Grand Central and took 943 Southeast to Chappaqua because of track work going into Wassaic but I did have New Haven Unit 230 with Penn Central on the left side so good thing the Bee Line bus had a free fare ride until Sept 3rd and thankfully I used the combo tickets going into different stations on the metro north

Also, the express service, or Bayonne Flyer is a priority service for Bayonne residents to get to work/home faster. In the morning, It picks passengers up in Bayonne and then skips the unnecessary stops and drops passengers off at Essex Street, Exchange Place, Harborside, Newport, and Hoboken. In the evening, it picks passengers up at those stops and drops them off in Bayonne to get them home faster. That's why they run left handed in the evening.

A nice, sanitary, well-kept system. I think I rode a short portion of it years ago when it first opened. Thanks for the tour. (P.S. I've always heard Tonnelle with the accent on the first syllable. But you're probably correct.)

35:44 During the afternoon rush hour, the trains run left handed between Richard Street and 22nd Street so that Bayonne Flyers going to 8th Street can fly past stations and not have to slow down for the crossings which are on the actual southbound track.
@3985uprr2 ай бұрын
How many of those flyers do they have?
@realAutoman2 ай бұрын
@@3985uprr In the morning, 10 of them out of 8th Street and 4 out of Hoboken. In the afternoon/evening, 8 out of Hoboken and 4 out of 8th Street.

I believe the west side ave line follows the old ROW of the CNJ main line.

I would have thought it was further down along the Bayonne route

@@3985uprr you may be correct but if you look at google maps, you’ll see the pilings of an old bridge over the Hackensack river. Figured it cut through that way first because Newark bay opens up right to the south of there and that would be tough putting a bridge across there.

I have been told by someone who worked on the development of the HB Light Rail system that the terminus of 8th Street Station in Bayonne was elevated because there was a plan to send it across the Bayonne Bridge into Staten Island. Likely never to happen.

I hope they build one in Southern New Jersey. It has been long planned, but never approved. It will ease traffic on the highways and make pedestrian/custodial traffic between Camden and Glassbor more accessible.

I've been on the river line and rode next to it for 4 years going to and from work. I never heard awful bells like that. I never hear a bell stop in the middle of a ring!

Thanks for doing this video. One small point of interest is the way you mispronounce Tonnele Avenue. Having grown up in Jersey City decades ago, we all pronounced Tonnele Avenue as Tunnel-ee Avenue. Maybe you can check this out. The pacing of how you say Tonnele is particular to natives...lol.
@3985uprr2 ай бұрын
What do I know?. I’m from Long Island. I’ve heard some wild mispronunciations of some of our locations.😀. I saw this. How do you pronounce tonnele? Either way, it is pronounced TUNN-el-lee.Jul 18, 2004. I said it that way pretty much. That was an online pronunciation. I’ve even heard it pronounced that way.

That isn't the Jersey City of my youth, either. JC, along with Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens, is where I'll end up when I retire.

Am I the only railfan alive that calls each “section” of an LRV a car? Like the sections with doors (e.g., the Hoboken trains are 3-car trains). EMUs function that way, where each section is called a car, so I just use that for LRVs.

it's Tonnelle Ave with the accent on the first syllable. What the hell. Do you know anything about NJ

@@3985uprr Please accept my apology for being impolite. I should have stated first how much I enjoyed the video. My mom worked in Union City for over 40 years, and I was born in Jersey City. When we would drive south on Tonnelle Ave, I loved looking at the train yards we would pass on the right. Fond memories of railfanning from the ‘50s and 60’s.
