We’re growing over 11 strains on rotation! You definitely should start a farm. There should be at least one in every city.

Great video! Love the little things like the mirror to keep an eye on your hoppers. Im starting up a small mushroom farm in my apartment in Canada, so i always love seeing how small scale farms approach things. Im working with Lions Mane and oysters and ive been thinking about going with larger grow bags to cut down on how many bags id need to work with, like maybe 25-30 lbs per bag using uline 2-3 mil bags and using cap filters. Kind of like a column grow but laying the bags on their side for fruiting. Can you think of any issues that might arise with using larger grow bags, other than throwing out your back.. xD
@longbeachmushrooms Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Depends what kind of substrate you’re thinking about using. If it’s sawdust, I can see those columns getting extremely heavy. Another thing to think about is the mass of the grow tube because that’ll affect the internal temp conditions. But it would probably save tons on labor!
@HavokBWR Жыл бұрын
@@longbeachmushrooms I'm hoping to get up to 100 lbs a week. At that point it would be worth doing this full time. So yeah 16 30lb bags vs 100 5lb ones... But baby steps. Working on my first large scale deep pasteurizer with a 55 gal plastic drum and 3000 watt heater. Struggling to get it over 140F though... That was with an empty tank and about 8 inches of water, so maybe once the volume filled with mushroom bags it'll have an easier time reaching temp?
@longbeachmushrooms Жыл бұрын
@@HavokBWR definitely running it full will help hold temp. A little insulation will go a long way too. We do 12lb blocks here. Maybe a good middle ground for ya.

Do you clean the humidifier duct tube? I have a single grow tent myself and have been scared that mold can build up on the inside of it. I am starting to soak my tube in bleach water just to be safe. What are your thoughts on this part of the tent?
@longbeachmushrooms Жыл бұрын
We don’t clean our ducts. We just replace them every 3-6 months, sometimes longer, when the build up is noticeably bad. Flexible ducting is cheap and cleaning will end up costing more in labor/time than it is worth.
@Lvl2farmer Жыл бұрын
@@longbeachmushrooms ahh okay. I'll add replacing to my options. Thank you for the tips and information.
