Yes it is. If I ever win the lottery for millions of dollars, it will happen. I own 3 acres, and would have plenty of room even with my current home (1700 sq. ft.) and a 750 sq. ft. tiny house that I rent out. And a swimming pool. It would also have a full basement. My home would also become a rental. I own everything outright. (Jan Griffiths).

I loved Elizabeth Montgomery when I was a kid. I loved the way she spoke and handled herself. Cute laugh, smart and insightful observations, and her quick wit. She delivered her lines so well. It was so natural that you’d truly believe she was a witch with powers. They will never be able to recreate Bewitched because they could never find another Elizabeth Montgomery. The show itself was my safe place. Growing up gay I knew I was different and so was Samantha. In one episode she said to Tabitha that regular folks just weren’t ready to accept witches, and people were not ready to accept gays either. For that reason I held this show dear to my heart and have watched all 8 seasons at least 7 times now. I’ll likely watch them all again in two or three years. I just finished season 8 again last week.

I was a "Girl Guide" when Bewitched came on TV and we met on the night it aired.....I missed many Girl Guid meetings so that I could stay home and watch Bewitched. I now own all of the DVD's and have recorded and watched the show with my husband over many dinners eaten on TV trays. We love how they would get all dressed up to eat dinner in their own home especially in the early shows. We love how Endora looked the first time she and Darren met. She was so glamorous and he was in a Tux. So fun!

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane What Glenda sees in the show was normal for those days. My Mom belonged to a ladies group that had card/dinner parties rotating among each lady's house. The ladies would dress elegantly just to have dinner and play cards. They were far from stuffy. I was always "fourth" for bunco with one set of ladies, all dressed more for church than our living room. Check the magic popcorn episode of Bewitched.) Elegance, though, went with their generation. We dressed to go out to eat. We dressed to go to the doctor. We dressed to travel. Would we show up at a hotel looking like we were digging in the garden? Heaven forbid! Mom even had a closet full of evening gowns for "special" occasions, and she wore them frequently enough. Dad had one tux. We were far from rich, but it doesn't necessarily cost a lot to be elegant. Mom had two friends who could make clothes. Those clothes on Bewitched could be great, but Mom's closet full of handmade dresses and gowns could challenge the wardrobe department on Bewitched any day. So could many ladies who were Mom's contemporaries.

I loved this tour, and the Bewitched house is my favorite also. While watching Bewitched one morning before work, the episode was about a fake lawn being installed at Darrin & Samantha's house in error. The error, I had noticed was their address which was always 1164 Morning Glory Circle, but for that episode the house number was 162 or 192, where as the middle number accidentally turns upside down as Darrin leaves for work and slams the door giving it the 6 or the 9, (I don't remember exactly) thus the lawn company installing the lawn at the address, which in reality is another house. I wish I could remember the episode name. But, we all know the true address was 1164....just a little observation I though you might like to investigate. I love your videos.

With five siblings my father could not afford to buy us a television set until 1966. _Bewitched_ was the first show we watched. It really wasn't a very good set. It was a used 17 inch b&w set that he bought for $50. I don't recall the particular episode but _ Bewitched_ was the first program we watched. Great job upstairs here too. In my own mind, I imagined Tabitha's room at the top of the staircase, the master bedroom on the other end (over the living room as you pointed out), and the guest room in between. There was no visible bathroom for the kids or guests upstairs. I guess they all used the master bathroom. :) I've never seen "Brian's Song", but I've read that it used the Stephens living room. In that one though there was a basement staircase under the main stairs, as the men opened the door (which I think was pointed at the top to match the rise of the staircase).

The fact is that Darrin did change his attitude very much. By the fifth season, Darrin would even agree with Samantha when she would say, "Witchcraft got you into this, let witchcraft get you out." That was one of the problems with seasons 6-8. the writers had progressed the show to the point where Darrin realized some benefit to allowing Samantha and her family and friends to be who they were. When Endora throws a party at the Stephens house, Darrin actually enjoys himself and he and Endora get along with each other. He is even on Endora's side when she zaps Arthur into the fountain. Seasons 6-8 not only repeat old scripts needlessly, they reverted Darrin's character to not understanding his wife and kids. If they had stayed with the "evolved" Darrin after Dick Sargent was hired, the story would have been better. I have imagined the series changing to focus more on the kids, especially after Tabitha starts school in the 7th season. Tabitha could have been joined at school by one of the Kravitz nephews, who conveniently appeared from time to time throughout the series. Tabitha would have had an antagonist at school. Maudie Pricket and Charlie Lane were perfect as the befuddled teacher and straight-laced principal. It would have been fun seeing Abner and the Principal try to deal with Gladys and the teacher after a magical mishap. Larry and Louise could also send their kid to the same school. What a fun mess that could have been!

@@MarinaCoatesMockingbirdLane According to Wikipedia in their discussion of Lizzie Borden, "it was later discovered, after Montgomery died, that she and Borden were sixth cousins once removed...(through)...17th Century Massachusetts resident John Luther." Given how hospitable to gay actors Montgomery was, it is interesting to note that some sources indicate that Lizzie Borden was a profligate lesbian. One source I read over the years stated that Lizzie and her sister remained immensely wealthy after the murders and continued to live together as single ladies. According to the source, Lizzie's sister eventually moved into her own home due to the party atmosphere in the home. Having no other contemporary accounts of the scene, it's hard to say exactly what went on in the house, especially considering that hard partying among the rich of that time was a big no-no. So was it just a difference in style, or did Lizzie party like a rock star? Well never know for sure.

Kathy Garver discusses that on youtube. Of course, the apartment was a soundstage. However, if you were to put all the rooms in a real building, it would have had to take the entire floor of the building shown in the exterior shots. Uncle Bill had his own room with a private bathroom with a sunken bathtub. Mr. French had a room. Jody had his own room. Cissy and Buffy shared a room. They must have had another bathroom, because Jody is chased out of Uncle Bill's bathroom once, "Your Uncle wouldn't want to know you were using his bathtub." French said. Then there were the kitchen, dining room and living room. The kitchen and dining room could both seat the entire family. Then they had a balcony. Presumably, they stored their seasonal stuff somewhere, but the building undoubtedly had a basement. Let's not forget that they had neighbors on the same floor. Wow! How many blocks long must a real building be to house multiple apartments on the same floor the size Uncle Bill had?

very good - thanks for putting these two videos together :) i've always been curious about the two upstairs windows situated over the front door - they'd have to be over the foyer but i suppose viewers are to imagine that they're in the master bedroom however throughout the shows run that would make the master bedroom backward because the window & design structure are in /on the backyard wall (not to mention the homes third or fourth fireplace) with an occasional interior glimpse of a single front yard facing window which is never seen in the establishing front view shots - also, i've heard that tabitha's room & darrin's downstairs home office were one in the same room/set, just redressed to fit the weeks story line - i do like the idea of a garden storage room off the patio & the location would explain how the master bedroom has a master bathroom because it would inevitably have to be where all the plumbing is for the upstairs bathroom plus a separate hot water heater, etc. makes perfect sense to me - i wonder how i've never thought of that because i've always thought that elongated brick structure was nice, but sort of weird :) i've also always been curious if the real santa monica bewitched house interior has any similarity to the tv house or if it's just like the brady bunch house(s) - with no similarity at all :) i hope you like making these - are they complicated - the two recent bewitched videos are awesome - thanks again!

I have also wondered about the orientation of the master bedrooms. The windows on the bathroom side are always presented as overlooking the front yard when the occupant is talking to someone through an open window. I’m 53, but just noticed that back in 2019 when I was rewatching the series with my teenage daughter. I love the original bed set up, with the walk through floor space in front of the closets.

I just came upon your channel, and I love it. Going to subscribe. There is one detail you left out of the master bedroom. When you go up the stairs turn right , go in the room, the windows they always look out of, would actually be looking out to the back yard, and Sam's dressing table would be facing the street. I've noticed that since I was a kid growing up with Bewitched...I loved the house (and show) I drew up a type of a blueprint of both floors, and that's how I noticed the mistake. It seems no one ever brings that up.

To give a little salary perspective, I use the ABC "Bewitched" duplicate "Love on a Rooftop", which aired in the 1966-67 season hammocked between "Bewitched" and "That Girl". The husband was an apprentice architect slightly similar to Darrin starting out at an advertising firm. The Rooftop hubby makes 85.37 a week which in 2020 is 679.26. That is 2,717.04 per month today. It's not rich, but if hubby is a vet, he might be able to get a mortgage on a starter house. It's reasonable. BTW, "Rooftop" is so much a duplicate, the pilot episode uses a narrator and follows the "Bewitched" pilot script almost word for word in places. This includes both couples' joy of kissing. Dave is the orphaned, struggling architect and Julie (after the wedding) reveals she has a rich Daddy who doesn't approve of his son- in-law. If you watch the wedding scene closely, you'll notice they get married in what certainly appears to be Sam and Darrin's bedroom (based on the windows and curtains). After starting out in a dreadful time slot on Tuesdays, the show was finally placed between "Bewitched" and "That Girl" on Tuesdays, where I think it would have flourished if given a second season. It was even heavily promoted in color. Watch the entire series (featuring "Bewitched" alum Bernie Koppell) on youtube. You can see the triple Thursday promo for the three "power women" shows by punching in "Bewitched Promos" on youtube. Imagine getting married in Sam and Darrin's bedroom.
