That's a nice addition to the GS! Very complete kit from the looks of it..

Is it possible to buy the frame inserts separately? I bought the wrong kit, without the frame inserts, because the online shop I purchased from wasn’t clear on which kit they sold. Unfortunately the package is now open so they won’t take it back. I’ll try to contact touratech support but I’m worried I wasted $300 on a product I can’t install :\

If it's a Touratech product that you bought just contact your Touratech distributor and we will take care of you.

@@TouratechUSA Contacted Touratech and you guys definitely took care of me! TT-USA helpfully put me in touch with TT-Canada two days ago and, long story short, I mounted my bar braces today without issue :) Thanks so much! Customer for life.

Does the head cover (to inspect valves for ex) require crash bar removal?
@TouratechUSA3 жыл бұрын
You may be able to squeeze the valve cover off without removing the bar but it's not worth the effort. It is better to remove the bar entirely to have a clean and open workspace.

Where is the anti-seize supposed to be applied? I've watched the video several times and never saw him use it or heard him mention it again after saying at the beginning that you need it.
@TouratechUSA6 жыл бұрын
A good rule of thumb is to put anti-seize on any stainless steel bolt going into a stainless steel thread!

it seems that Touratech undersigned their crashbar system.....and now.....for additional dough ($$)....you can get the "missing" bars.

looks super easy in your video. in reality I was not able to install it on the 1250GSA 2021. the 1250 protection bumper on the bars is on different location so the reinforcement bar will stay upper than in this video. and on that position you will not be able to fit that small strange nut. the space between cylinder head protection and the bar is very tight. the nut will not fit in that space and you cannot push it inside of that down join connector. imagine that you have to fist a nut in space smaller than the nut and in the same time to push the bar to touch the bmw crashbar. is impossible! I will try to sell them because I don't think I can return them since I tried to install them. Or maybe to try to weld an additional connection part on the crash bars and to connect the reinforcement bards on those. I will create a video about this when I will have time to help others to not get in my situation. anyway this a valve adjustment killer! my mechanic will love me with this bars ! :))

This install video is for the R1200GS version, there is a different version for the R1250GS. If you purchased these from Touratech USA please give us a call and we can help.

WD40 will swell and brake down Delrin, it would be better to use wax. It's not good practice to loosen with a torque wrench. The reason is a torgue wrench can be bent out of calibration. just ask snapon

Ummm....valve adjustments will require this to ALL be disassembled- jast sayin'

WD-40 is terrible for rubber and plastic parts! Silicone spray please. A torque wrench for loosening parts? NOT!

Was going to mention the torque wrench for sure!

A poor design in the first place and now needs bracing. And it all seems to get in the way of valve adjustment. I'd buy Altrider.
@jonbaker73706 жыл бұрын
I just installed the Altrider OEM reinforcement. Has bolt that replaces the engine mount bolt. not sure this is a good thing or not. Both probably do the same thing and cost is same.

I wish touratech would hire me to redesign there products. They do a great job but there fasteners look so aftermarket.
