Very enjoyable vlog, Erik! The re-use of damaged beams for the shelving was a very nice touch...and, of course, love the exposed brick. Over all, super well done reno! I could definitely live there even without a city view (though I'd have a daily view of the NYC skyline while living in my $135,000,000 dream apartment by Hiroshi Sugimoto at 432 Park Avenue). A question regarding the Burr house: why didn't the renovators make usable space on the roof? A suggestion: obtain an oil painting of Aaron Burr (perhaps an original done during Burr's lifetime) and hang it by the front door of the "garage." Include it in the sales price to make up for no usable roof space.

LOL, there are so many "features" that architects love but people who actually live in homes quickly realize are absurdly impractical. *Only* open shelving in the kitchen? No pantry space or easily accessible cabinetry? (As far as I can tell, there isn't. When the camera swings around to show the whole kitchen there's nothing there opposite the island, and the only cabinets are beneath the counters.) Those admittedly gorgeous 200-year-old beams won't look quite as chic when filled with groceries like Bumble Bee tuna, Rice Krispies or Fruit Roll-ups. Or even the billionaire equivalents. And others have commented on the ridiculous glass wall that displays the master bed to anyone, including kids. I can handle the "all eyes on me" patio, because any outdoor space in NYC is wonderful. But the whole house is a big fishbowl. I dunno. You've got this fantastic historic figure associated with the property, but the building itself looks as if it's been dropped down from a spaceship flown by a planet of Industrial Modern-worshipping aliens.
@johnhastings4622 жыл бұрын

@clairewright81532 жыл бұрын
Didn’t like the kitchen design either, no pantry small fridge and why could I see power points. At a property at this price point that’s just sloppy. I like the idea of the large window in the master bedroom room to let in light, if it was one that can frost over at the flick of a switch.
@silvia67902 жыл бұрын
I like how open shelving looks but it’s so impractical! First off, where do I put my plates and glasses and everything? Having enough storage in a kitchen is vital and believe me, without upper cabinets, everything is going to be cramped. And even if you can make the open shelves work, then you’ll have to clean them every week and that’s just a terrible waste of time. And why on Earth is there a window to the staircase in the master’s bedroom? And don’t even get me started on the shower.
