Ryan, I grew up on 20 acres of land and the nearest store (a 7/11 and Food Lion) was about 20 minutes away. There were only two stop lights in the county at that time. This property in your video reminds me of this land so much. That property also had a spring and small creek, we raised cattle on this land and it was covered with whitetail deer. I was about 10 when we bought the land and I remember spending a great deal of time and hard work clearing vines and thorny brush, building a barn, cutting grass for hay and so on. I walked about a mile each way every single day to feed the cattle over the fall, winter and spring. That camp area you mentioned would also be a great place to built a small dam. And being a subscriber on your channel has hopefully in a very small way helped your wife and you gather funds for this new property and if so, that brings me a lot of joy, even the really small part I played. I don't know the price of cattle in your area, but you have the land and most of the fence in place already, so that would help fund some of the tasks you have in mind for this property. I know it will be slightly tough moving away from your house and lawn after all the work you put into getting it as close to perfect as you could, leveling the lawn and so forth. I suspect on this new land you will have so much to do that leveling the lawn on the new land and striping the lawn may have to take a back seat, but then again, that is probably part of what is paying for this land so it may be a test bed to expand your lawn channel. Sadly, you are a bit too far north to do much with warm season grasses, but I do hope these channels can help you get this new 40 acres and your new home launched and make it the location you've both dreamed of for years. I'm not far enough north to do a lawn channel on cool season turfs, and I'm not far enough south to have a channel on warm season turns, but I do have a great Zoysia lawn, but in Virginia, the peak growing season isn't quite long enough for a good channel. I'm happy this all has worked out so well for you, and has a fellow lawn care nerd and someone that works in IT and has knowledge of cameras and editing video, I have a decent idea of the amount of hours and effort you put into the channel. As far as brush clearing, talk to your local fire department or DNR, often times they can do “habitat rehabilitation” burns. There’s lots of variables and considerations of course.
