The armed police is there to protect from terrorists and other threats.. That place is a military facility under the Ministry of Defense there are important officials working there, aside from being one of the entrances to Buckingham palace and St James The Guards are on duty although ceremonnial is very essential because its a part of their tasks as soldiers of the Household Cavalry they have to complete their time for the ceremonial duty to pass out and be assigned to serve in higher tasks too. The Armed officers are assigned there also to assist in maintaining safety of the facility, to control the crowd and see that the guards are respected and not ridiculed by the tourists that often times happens specially when there are a lot of people. The Guards should not be disturbed while they are on duty The tourist must know that if they visit horseguards they should follow rules because that place is not a petting zoo and not disneyland. They are elite soldiers specially picked by her majesty the Queen and is serving the newly crowned King. Their duty is a tradition that must be respected because they are British and evryone must honor that. I only want to share what I know. Because I admire the British tradition and my being an Asian is not a hindrance to follow their rules if I will visit their country one day. Lets just be proud and happy for them. Respect begets respect..... I'm proud of my country too and I want others to respect our tradition and culture too. Peace to everyone
